Set up Fences to move over desktop icons without interact with them or displace them. Very useful in multi monitor systems.

I use Fences on my PC and Laptop. My desktop is synchroniced over Onedrive and i would like that Fences gives the possibility to do the same to bring order into it.

Quoting Its_Lewis_98,

I.e. so that all you see is the application icons. This is 2020 no one needs names for apps anymore.

I strongly disagree. Too many icons look similar and I depend on the filenames to tell some of them apart.

I strongly Disagree with you. Im not saying turn them off completely, I'm saying make it optional to see them or not. I think you took my meaning totally out of context

Maybe add the option to have separate label colours and background colors so when doing certain them setups it can match, I'll use this image as an example, the fences feel off because I can't choose to change the label colour only. also the ability to add drop shadows to the fences too with adjustable transparency and size.

Late to the party, but I'd love to be able to create fences for SharePoint (online and on-premises) document libraries.

I use fences and like it.

But, is it truly worth putting in any suggestions?

I have done this before on other sites, and none (not just mine) ever actually happen.

Microsoft is an excellent example of ignoring  obviously good suggestions, even when several million people have made them!

I, and others Maxthon users, were unhappy when a new release deleted the Quick Print (one click) icon,
meaning it now took  several clicks to print.
Many complained but they weren't interested. Their moderators tried, embarrasingly, to defend Maxthon, even though a 10 year old could see the stupidity of it.

So, out of the 11 pages of suggestions here, over 1 1/2 years, how many have been listened to and what %age have been added?

Very useful feature can be to allow Fences with rolling up turned on to show topmost of all windows if are activated.

Also useful can be to allow to create keyboard shortcut separate for each Fence to show topmost of all windows.

Activation of rolling up Fences is not good solved - all mouse movements over titlebar rolls them down and it can have option to activate only at mouse click.

Also - rolling up Fences titlebar - it can be reduced only for name view / folder portal opened folder name.

Yes it would, but please look back at all the posts I have made in this thread.  Where the icons show is a limitation made by Microsoft.  It is a specific feature of Windows that active AND inactive ones will always be on top of the icons on the desktop...;)

It would be great if Stardock didn't keep this thread going implying that there is no end in sight.  I just have a hard time putting money into something that the company hasn't actually indicated has a delivery date.  Hell, for all I can tell v4 will never be released and there are no plans to ever do so.

You have asked for, and received a LOT of feedback, now it's time to give some sort of definitive answers rather than the ambiguous "we couldn't possibly commit to anything" response.  I have used Fences in past machines, but seeing that there are many problems discussed and Stardock just taking feedback for 18 months is kind of disturbing from a potential re-purchase perspective.  Y'all are not doing yourselves a lot of favors by mainly only responding to the things you cannot do........

Realtime Translucent Fence backgound pls, it will support who is using "Wallpaper Engine" like me

and more customable for Fences backgound (ex: more or less rounded corners or blur strong), and Roll up animations

You know you can use DeskScapes instead which supports blur with Fences just fine.

I would love better customization than just text color, either WindowBlinds Extention or it's own theming system of some sort.

my point is, that sometimes, after I invested hours, to set up a nice Desktop, it just needs one rash click, to disturb the layout. I didn't find any way, how to get back, if out of a silly mouse click, a single fence decides its title bar to be on the bottom instead to top.

Memorize apps position on screen like Basta Zmover app or Shellfolderfix

That doesn't sound like a Fences feature given the purpose of the application is managing your desktop icons.

Add a feature to completely lock Fences, it's annoying to constantly resize fences by accident.

Hi, I've recently acquired Fences v3 and I'm enjoying it a lot! I always searched for a way to better organize my desktop and this tool is perfect for this.

However, I would like it to allow sideways snapping as well, with vertical labels so you don't have to guess which fences have what you want.

Some way to control each individual or all fences animations would be awesome too!

i.e.: Roll-up animation speed; Mouse over titlebar time threshold for roll down animation, so to avoid accidental activation; and so on.

I'm not sure if anyone posted those exact requests already because I was too lazy to read every post on all 11 pages this topic has ;P

Overall, I'm really grateful for this great application.

Thank you all!

I'm sorry for spamming requests now, but this one have got to be implemented:

I"ve searched many topics on this forum and found out many users requesting translations for their native languages.

You guys MUST let all your software available for translation platforms, such as Transifex or Onesky. That way you can let everyone do translations for you for free.

Think (hard) about it, please.

Thanks.

Generally most people have hoped/expected Fences to be capable of changing Microsoft's GUI Z-order where it pertains to desktop icons.

Invariably I have been explaining that is [currently] outside the purview of what Fences actually does.

That's been a constant criticism with Fences, along with the issue of being able to lock the placement of icons so they don't rearrange themselves - also an issue due to how they re-order when the Fence is resized/reshaped.

If there was some way to control both of those you'd allay probably 90% of 'complaints'...;)
End of Jafo's quote
Yeah, a lock feature and perhaps additional options in like an "advanced settings" toggle box or something similar to allow locking fence locations and dimensions (not just icons) so you don't accidentally change them or their contents.

WTF, why is this not listed anywhere in the actual "Configure Fences" window??

Doesn't matter if it's 2020 or 2050 unless you have mind-reading AI.

There are plenty of apps that have shitty icons and I'd rather not have to manually change them. Names are not a bad idea or at the minimum must be an option.

I did not search through all eleven pages of suggestions, but I have one that I think should be easy to implement and has a very high cost/benefit ratio.

Allow an option for a (contrasting color?) three or four pixel wide fence border. With a darkish backround image or one with a lot of dark areas, it's almost impossible to find the edge of a fence when you want to resize the box.  Don't need a lot of options or customization - just a choice -  Border Yes/No, Border: White, Border: Dark

Add a button to flush oldest license, that was activated by steam

We don't have a way to re-register fences via that window with 3 buttons (enter key, purchase key, trial)
