Fences messes up my Windows 10 desktop. It sometimes caused the desktop background to either go black, or it leaves black boxes behind my fenses.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information.

Please let us know :

1) Windows 10 version you are on : Use Winver.exe.

2) Fences version you installed.

3) Do you have wallpaper managers installed such as DisplayFusion, Dreamscapes, etc etc.

Thank you

If you are using the Stardock Direct please Re-download the latest version from you account if Steam just follow the instruction as mentioned.

Thanks but I read in other posts that going through this didn't help at all. Then when it fails for me you'll tell me to update my video drivers. I am just going to delete this utility. It'd be nice if I could get a refund.

From my experience helping users here, 90% purge and reinstall helps. Other who it did not work, might have different problem. Which we will try another approach such as conflict on other application installed or faulty system files. We are trying our best to help everyone with problem as long as they interested to be help.

If you wish for refund you should raise a ticket here : https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Tickets/Submit

well it was OK until a minute ago, Then I clicked on my screen and the whole background went black. I could still see my desktop icons but no boundaries of any fences. then when I clicked in an area of where a fence should be that area only changed back to the proper desktop color. Same with the other fence areas, then It was like the screenshot I sent you before.

I installed Fences. Wouldn't mind a refund.

Understood. I wonder if you have Nvidia GeForce Experience installed. I have read elsewhere that some of its overlay is source of the issue.

Quoting Sean from https://forums.stardock.com/492344/get;3734975

That said, if I had to venture a guess, it is not liking Fences. What I would suggest is turning of any 'overlay' that Nvidia is producing.

Also, any actively running Nvidia software is largely unnecessary. Other than its '3D Vision' product, it's uses are for reminding of updates and perhaps some video capture / gaming components.
