Ashampoo Backup Pro 11 out of date

It is not the most recent version

I got an email from Stardock about buying Ashampoo Backup Pro 11 for $9.99 last night and purchased it.  As soon as I got through installing it, I got an ad suggesting that I upgrade to Ashampoo Backup Pro 12.  I went back and re-read the email from Stardock to see if it indicated the version they were selling is not the current version.  I didn't find anything.  I was surprised that Stardock sold an out of date piece of software and didn't say anything about it in the marketing email.   That explains why it was so inexpensive, but I wouldn't think to go check if the software I just bought is current.  This post is mainly just a heads up to others who might be thinking about buying it.  I know that it isn't written by Stardock, but I bought it through them and the registration number is now part of my Stardock records.

I also purchased the Ashampoo: Backup Pro 11, but the link to download the product in the invoice doesn't work. Can you post the link you used?

I contacted AShampoo people directly and got this response.

Dear Peter,

you can use the upgrade offer to purchase a license of Ashampoo Backup Pro 12 or continue to use Ashampoo Backup Pro 11. Please notice, that you did not purchase the license via our shop but from a Reseller (Stardock).

All I can say is "nice". Doesn't give me much warm fuzzies. Doesn't sound like a good company.

IMHO I don't put the lack of "warm fuzzies" at the feet of Ashampoo.  I feel sure that when Stardock sent out the email marketing Ashampoo 11, that they knew version 12 had already been released by Ashampoo.  I bought version 11 a few hours after the Stardock email arrived, and got the offer to upgrade to 12 that same evening. I really wouldn't have had a problem if Stardock had just included in their email something to the effect of "Get Ashampoo Backup Pro 11 for just 25% of its normal price.  Ashampoo has released a version 12, but we have made a deal for selling their leftover version 11".  Or just anything so we as a customer were walking into the deal with our eyes wide open.  I haven't even had a chance to really give this version a try, and see if there is anything I can't live without from version 12.  For the price of 10 bucks, if it does all that I need, I won't be asking for a refund.

I take it the folks at stardock are avoiding this thread like the plague. Too bad because it will hurt them more in the end.
