Surfs up, just got back from St Augustine

Surfs up, just got back from St Augustine on the other side of Florida. Went on a Ghost tour and my 8 yearold daughter loved it. Then headed out to the beach for a couple of days body surfing and body boarding. It was her first time and she really freaked on it, didn't want to get in the truck to come home this afternoon. I Had to promise to take her back for another long weekend at the end of the month

Swells breaking at a constant 6, peaking at 8 - 10 on some which had me wishing I could have taled my wife into throwing the boards up top for the trip. Though I will be paying for it for a few days or a week I am sure, it was a blast and well worth the fun and joy my daughter was having

We sat up late at night and watched the storms blow through sipping on soda while playing Crazy 8's with Shelby, when she nodded off my wife and I had a few round of Cribbage. Diane flys out at 7:00 am for San Fransisco in the morning so she can hook up with our son Justin before his ship heads north towards Alaska. He is going to show her around for a couple of days and then she has to hit some convention for Healthcare out there.

Summer break is an odd time, I end up playing phone support, mr mom and taxi driver most of it, but it can be more fun than much I can think to do otherwise

anyway, here is hoping everyone is doing well !

What a fun and descriptive story, IP...I almost feel there on your family vacation...only...I'm the one sitting in the room with a laptop ordering room service!

Bad:

Walking on the beach and dreaming of your computer...

Good: On your computer dreaming of the beach...hehe

Styl; no doubt I will be singing on the sand, or it will I still swear I hear the waves calling and my wife thinks I am nutz!

Peff; we should be back there in about 6 weeks, though my wife clains three it is always best to add a few

I wish we had a chance to hook up for sure. The last night we ate at Harry's which was rather tastie; Burbon street wise.. Though my mum is from mayport and I can not for the life of me figure out why the home style cooking there does not take off; considering it it the same thing for almost 150 years. Though not everyone, my grams and gramps hold to the old things. anyway...

I will mention when we head out next time before hand by two weeks so planms might be made.

Oh Shelby drove a Horse cart on the back roads. Mr Bill spent almost an hour with her teaching her how to drive. I now have an 8 year old whom might be able to drive a horse drawn cart as far as it might need to go.. cool

I've been to St. Augustine a number of times...it's even closer to me than you, IP!
I did the fort and old town and drank from the fountian of youth and all that but I'd never done the ghost tour. You'll have to clue us in on that. It's a nice get-away that's not too far away.

yeah it's a sad, SAD sight to see a 2 foot swell dwindle to a ripple 100 feet off shore! Reminds one of the fact that they live only so many storms away from mud flat/ sandbar instead of a beach.

I'd love to be able to Surf bit I had to give it up a few years back after a car crash up on Gandy Bridge. Heck I am still felling getting slapped around by the waves and bounced on the crushed shells and hard pack sand last weekend. But once the body is numb whats the point of quiting until you can't move?

The ghost tour was ok, the one we went on was spotlighted on Discovery last year for some Ghost Investigation Documentary. The history part was nice to learn, the ghost part was more for my daughter though. She really got into it and was asking lots of questions. So many that the guide turned to me and asked if she came with an off switch ( of course he had a large smile and humor on his face when he asked ) I told him that it was one of the options I had missed on the list and have been kicking myself for it since the day she finally started talking, she never has stopped.

She kicked my leg and cried "Daaaaaad" and then was quiet for almost 10 minutes!
