Cannot arrange icons

Cannot turn off snap to grid

I have searched within the Forum, and found a thread having to do with not being able to turn off snap to grid.  There is 1 thread that is somewhat related, but does not provide a solution to the sorting problem Fences is having.

I have Fences with icons appearing in 2 columns, and I want to have them in 1 column.  One Fence only has 3 icons in it - fences has 2 of the icons in 1 column, and another in another column.  I cannot get Fences to allow me to have the icons in only 1 column within a Fence.  Also, when I try the option "Disable snapping at any time by holding shift", and then move an icon where I want it, Fences randomly grabs a bunch of other icons from other Fences and moves them around.  This includes moving icons from the desktop (outside of any fence) in to one of the fences.

I am on the trial version, 3.0.9.11 in Windows 10, and there is NO WAY I'm going to purchase a license if if it not possible to turn off snap to grid, or otherwise be able to choose where I want the icons to appear.  I have to believe that I am simply not doing something correctly.  I cannot believe that an app that is supposed to provide a better way to organize one's desktop would not actually allow one to organize the fences in a manner that works for her/him.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!

Hello

Would you Please try this PURGE: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling

Reboot and ReInstall the latest version from your Stardock account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/

When done check with right click on desktop that fences is un locked ( un checked )

and in task manager both Fences entry's are enabled.

Then report back here if your issue is fixed, please.

Thanks very much.  This seems to have done it.  What I do not understand is why this happened in the first place.  Am I to expect to have to run the purge routine on a regular basis?  That is not acceptable, of course.  Ideally, I would like to purchase a license.   However, I'm going to want to use this for another 3 weeks to be able to evaluate if Fences is going to work for me.  I have 19 days left on my trial, so that should be fine (short of 3 weeks, but only by a couple of days).

One last question - are there any differences between the trial version and the full license version?  Are there any other tiers of licenses, e.g. a "Pro" version?  If so, could you please let me know what the differences are?  Thanks once again for your help!!

Hello,

Purge is just a one time thing or sometimes when things go wrong for what

ever reason a Purge can fix it , try a few days and see how it goes and you always

keep your snapshots up to date for a quick fix .

My Fences stay right without issues .

There is just one version right now the latest is 3.0.9.11

same as trial and no pro version.

Yeah, this didn't work at all for quite a few other users.  New thread with regard to those users having single column fence issues...  See new forum thread: https://forums.stardock.com/489934/page/1/#3730870
End of kt3946's quote

Purge must be done first before moving forward .
