Fences with VM - windows 10

Hello

can anyone please tell if Windows10-64-bit-1803 virtual machine works with fences 3

i have been struggling for some time now and it just wont work.

tried purging, resintalling everything as per forums but just doesnt work

i can install it without any errors but wont work - cant create fences, etc.

Product - VMware Horizon Client

Version - 4.7.0 build-7395453

OS - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1803)

 

Appreciate if any one can shed some light on this as i have got very used to fences with Windows 7 previously.

I've just setup my VMware Windows 10 and install Fences without issue. here a sshot of it.

Hi Basj,

do i need to buy the subscription for it to work on VMware windows 10? do u have the subscription or u tested on trial run installer?

is it cause i am using trila version which is why itis not working?

i believe it muts have been a straight forward installation, any advise would much appreciated.

I installed the trial version just to see if it work, It is a straight forward installation. With simple email verification method.

Hi Basj,

Really appreciate the support and help  provided by testing the same

i even bought a license online to see if that will make any difference but unfortunately the same outcome, it installs but then after that nothing happens

when i try to run the exe, nothing happens everything is as it no shortcuts created during installation etc

I have no clue as to where to go from here but really appreciate the help

Hello,

Could you test to install on a full version windows 10 system? Virtual Machines, there will always problem on incompatibilities of hardware drivers and we can not help on that.

Hi Basj,

i seem to have sorted it out

There was a MS patch KB4340917 CU for Windows 10 (1803) which i installed, restarted and then ran the fences 3.09 installer

Now its working and am able to create the fences, and all the options on the created fences are working

 

Just one more query, when i right click on the desktop and click on configure fences it doesn't work , neither does the icon on my desktop Customize Fences also same phenomena. Is there anything that needs to be taken care of for that.

Hello,

I can't suggest anything more. Since your environment is still Virtual Machine environment. Anything can go wrong. And looking on that Patch you just installed, seem there are still known issues with it. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4340917/windows-10-update-kb4340917
