Single Column not working

V3.0.9.11 after installing upgrade to 3.0.9 (or maybe it was my change from v2 to v3 as I finally did that recently) my single column sized fences no longer scroll vertically to show icons, they are defaulting to 2 columns.  At first I thought icons had disappeared as I had sized for 1 column and scrolled down and icons were missing, but then I tried widening and discovered they were in a 2nd (hidden when sized for 1 column) column.  I've utilized short width/height fences from the get go (couple years or more) and it always has vertically scrolled to show all the icons, frustrating having to resize all my fences to be 2 columns wide for this change, please fix.  I'm running latest version of windows 10 x64.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. But fences V3.0.9.11 on my system and I have set one of my Fence to single column and it can scroll vertically.

Please try purge and reinstall steps : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling.

Reboot, retest and report back.

Thanks

I have the same problem, tried re-installing but stays the same.  I have a 3 monitor setup, left and right monitors are Dell 1600x1200 and the centre monitor is a Samsung 1900x1200.  Tried reducing to 1 monitor but again no difference.

I've sent in a support ticket with the same exact issue.  Three monitors, unable to create single row fences.  Fences will end up making a horizontal row three wide, and not even create a scroll bar, so if you reduce the fence to 1 row wide by (say 10 vertical), you won't see the two icons in the horizontal row nor be able to click on them.

This issue started after adding a third monitor and updating to the v3.09 (latest) release.

Also, tried re-installing.  Even used the special "purge" script from Stardock, and that didn't fix it either.

It is _definately_ a bug with the latest software version and Windows 10.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Could you stop posting in multiple threads. It will be easier to help you if you stick in one thread or better start your own thread so that we can help you there. It is confusing if you keep jumping all over the place.

Thank you.

There are multiple people with the same problem, in multiple threads.  The other threads are getting ignored, except for the one thread where the purge seemed to solve their problems.  I've placed messages in the other threads attempting to redirect them to this latest one.

The issue seems to be related to the combination of:

(A) latest version 3.0.9.11 of Fences

(B) Three monitors

The bug seems to appear in other circumstances, but in that one case, seems to have been solved with a purge and re-install.  For those of us with 3 monitors, the purge-reinstall doesn't seem to work.

Could you please tell us the resolution of that 3 monitors and its scaling of each of those monitors?

Thank you,

Same issue here (noted way at top), I happen to be running 3 monitors as well, perhaps we've found the common denominator.

Exactly as in other posts in this thread.

A single column Fence can be created but I'm not seeing scroll bars when there are more icons than can be displayed.  Also the icons don't wrap at the bottom of the fence, instead they wrap at about the 2/3 icons displayed level so you can have a Fence with a blank area at the bottom with ample space to display 'missing' icons but they never there unless you widen the Fence and even then they stick to 2/3 icons deep rather than wrapping at the Fence boundary.

FYI this problem has been around for a while and I originally posted observing this more than 18 months ago when running Integrated Intel graphics, I've now got NVidia and I thought the problem had gone away but it is now back.

I have the same problem - seems like the one column problem still isn“t solved - right?

apparently it was not, as the same problem exists in 5.04 and it is worse. min 3 columns; others hidden. please fix this once and for all. I don't appreciate SD's runaround ( get a video, what res, etc ). I've been around SD for decades now and these problems still exist after years.

There is a Fences V5.5 Beta out, please try that and report back. Also include more information on your system.

  1. Windows 10/11 full build number. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Windows scale factor (100%, 125%, 200% etc)
  3. Desktop icons size setting. (Large, Medium, Small, or Custom icons size)
  4. A video showing us with this issue.

Below is screenshot showing my single column Fences without any issue.
