Whats the deal with WB3?

Nothing has been said about, or done with, WindowBlinds 3 since the release of WindowBlinds 4. I, for one, am stuck using Windows 2000 here at work and therefore am stuck with this "legacy version" of WindowBlinds that seems to have numerous problems when attempting to handle skins created specifically with WB4 in mind.

Are we going to be seeing WB4 for platforms other than XP anytime soon?

I'm hopeful that we'll see a beta for 2k before the end of June. I'm not 100% sure at the moment if that's also going to support 9x initially, but it's coming.

what are the problems you're having, jark? maybe if those of us skinning for WB 4 know where the problems are, we might be able to figure a way around them to make the skins more "backwards compatible".

I had a lot of issues using 3.5 with skins made for 4 also. Really weird, unexplainable things like magic pink showing up when the box is checked enabling it, weird black borders around the edges of buttons, images being tiled even though they were set to stretch in the .uis...like I said...just weird stuff.

That usually means the skinner forgot to set trans = 1 when they used perpixel alpha blending or transparency.

WB4 is much more understanding of mistakes like that than WB3 is.

A correct WB4 skin should work on WB 3.x too (but without the new features obviously)

i've experienced exactly the same things as davad mentioned. the main annoyance is the weird black borders around the edges of buttons.

jark, listen to that Neil guy... I hear he knows a thing or two about WindowBlinds

Is it doing it on all skins or just those with transparency around the buttons?

When I was running 98 with wb3 I had problems with skins using tga files for the buttons. I'm wondering if that could be where the problem is.
