Mouse does not click in the second computer

Mouse does not click in the second computer

Hello,

I need a little help, i use multiplicity and sometimes the mouse on the second computer does not work the clik, it is not always, it has time it works and has that time not. I believe it is some configuration of my primary computer, because even replacing the second does not solve. Can you tell me if there is any windows setup or firewall that does this? Or some software that interferes with that? The network is not the problem because it is fully open.

I use my laptop to run my main computer from any were in the house. and when it would connect to the wireless a bubble would popup showing that the secondary computer was able to connect. no bubble any more!

All updates don't always reach their destinations instantly , that's why we

have other options available to retrieve what your looking for .

When in doubt check the " FAQ " section for your needs .

each has it's own FAQ section.

Hi,

I have the same problem. Two computer with the same version (3.44 Build 00090). Mouse moves to the secondary but clicks are not recognized. I´ve founbd a workaround but it is really anoying. When I press CTRL+ALT+DEL on primary, the screen of this primary turns into a "non-graphical mode" ands then the clicks on secondary start to work. Did someone have the same issue?

Thank you very much,

Sérgio

Hi,

just one detail that I forgot to mention in my last post: keyboard works; only mouse clicks do not work on secondary unless I do CTRL+ALT+DEL to put primary screen on "that state".

thanks,

Hello,

Have you try these steps? https://forums.stardock.com/486104/multiplicity-support-faq#movemousesecondary

Hello, thank you very much for your response.

Yes, I have tried those. I am having this problem for a while now and, in fact, I have tried those steps at least three times. But, as I was expecting, it does not seem to be a firewall or connection issue; if this were the case, only puting the primary in the "CTRL-ALT-DEL state" would not make it work. Any other suggestions?

Thank you very much,

Sérgio

Well, I did that too already...

It seemed to work at first but, after a while, it started again with the same behavior...

If its intermittent, I would suggest trying a different mouse if it is something that has software to use (like a Logitech).  Other suggestions would be to test with both firewalls off for some time and to use wired connectivity if using wireless.

Thank you very much again for you response and attention. Well, in some sense I don´t think it is really intermitent; the strangest thing is that when I press the CTRL+ALT+DEL combination in the primary, suddenly it starts working perfectly (every time, not intermitently) on the secondary with no changes in firewall connections, and with the same mouse (and it allways works). I have have used it with different mouses at home and at work, with the same behavior on different secondaries. The behavor does not change if it is wirelessly connected or not (I use a cabled ethernet most of the time). I think it has something to do with the state that the primary enters when CTRL+ALT+DEL are pressed, probably stopping some process or interrupt routine, or anything like that (well, just guessing...).

Thank you anyway. If there is anything that occurs to you that I could try, please your help would be very appreciated.

Regards,

Sérgio.

I trust the thread, and all the options provided in it, have been tried?  Again, this helps the vast majority of people with this issue:

Yeah, I've tried every solution post in here, but all of them don't work. The only solution is to uninstall and reinstall, but this is just a fix too, 'cause as soon I restart my PC (master), this problem happens again.

I'll post a few things to elucidate this problem:
- The mouse click don't work in any slave, just in the master PC (other functionalities works correctly, like mouse movement, keyboard and clipboard);
- I have a VPN (from work) in my master (when the mouse click is working correctly, this cause no issue);
- If I press: "Ctrl+Alt+Del" on my master, my mouse click on slave works again (as suggested by Sérgio), but as soon as I close this screen, the problem immediately happens again;
- The problem seens to be in the master, 'cause the slaves seens to be working properly (I don't have to reinstall Multiplicity every reboot);
- My Multiplicity is a "Steam Version".

Thanks for the attention.

Best Regards,

Daniel

Yes, exactly the same behavior. I have also tried all the suggestions  in those threads - related with firewall rules and purge/reinstall.This  "CTRL-ALT-DEL" thing suggests a different problem from those described in these threads, don´t you think?

Thank you,

Sérgio

It makes me think there is a shared / common third party app / setting conflict to be honest.

Probably.

I just format my master and the problem stoped.

My lone remaining suggestion would be to try to do a clean boot:
https://forums.stardock.com/486104/multiplicity-support-faq#cleanboot

Because you have the Steam version, you will need to start that service as well - you should be prompted by Steam to do that.

Didn't work.

But I notice that I can't restart my multiplicity service. When I try, windows says that is running, but the program itself are not. Just in my master. If I restart the service in the slave, works fine.

More details about that (after restart of the service):

- The Multilplicity tray icon vanishes;

- I can open the application from the shortcut, the app opens, but don't have the hability to go to the slave screen;

- If I logoff then enters again, the services starts to work properly (but still no mouse click)

More info:

- I notice that when my master is on the logon screen, the mouse click works on the slave. But when I log in, the mouse click stops again.

- If I try to restart the service (multisrv.exe), it works. But what is odd is the fact the multiplicity app (i.e. Drag and Drop Helper) don't run. The only thing I can open after restart the service is the "MultiplicityConfig.exe", but the Multiplicity itself don't work.

This almost screams that there is another app, service, or setting at log on that is interfering with MP.

The Clean boot entails creating a new Windows Administrator account (very important) and stopping all services other than MS, and MP.  Did you do that?
