Groupy "requires Desktop windows manager", another case

Hi all,

as with one earlier topic, Groupy "requires Desktop windows manager".

What's different: I' ve enabled Aero theme (not Basic), DWM service is running, Themes service is running. Groupy wouldn't work. Reinstalled Groupy, rebooting as needed. Still wouldn't work.

Maybe it's siginificant that Aero was disabled at the time of first installation of Groupy. Second time I installed it, I had Aero theme already enabled.

Win 7 x64 SP1, personal PC, logged on to desktop (not remoting), not using virtual desktops. Using Tiles and Fences.

Thank you!

Hello,

Sorry for your problem. From previous posting regarding similar issue with yours it is noted that on Windows 7, Aero Theme, DWM need to be running/enable. But since you said you already have those turn on. I am not sure what the problem.

As you mentioned that when you first install groupy Aero was disabled. It might be there are some groupy setting left over when you uninstall it and reinstall it might not write over that left over setting.

You can try using those Uninstaller application out there or you can try winoptimizer which have uninstaller build in.

If Groupy tells you that you need to enable the DWM and have rebooted since, you are not using a glass capable theme.

Groupy does not remember this so uninstalling will not make any impact.

If you can post a screenshot of your windows desktop we may be able to identify what the issue is.

I've figured it out, apparently I've had 16 bit color because of high resolution and old graphics card and with 16 bit it doesn't do all aero features, transparency.

When I switched to 32 bit color, Groupy worked normally.

Thanks for help!
