Language misery in Fences 3.08.1

Language control bug in Fences 3.08.1

Hello,

I hope Fences authors follow this forum...

There is a awful language problem with Fences 3.08.1.
In my case the upgrade changed the application's language from english to polish without asking.

It looks ugly, and there is no option for setting up the required language in the preferences, like going back to english in my case.

Moreover, the polish translation is terrible and does not follow polish standards.
Let's begin we the translation of "fences", which is not "kafelki" in polish.
"Fences" translates to "płotki", "zagrody", "przegródki", and to be honest, even these names sound funny in polish while talking about computer desktop elements.
"Kafelki" are "tiles", like ones you see in the Windows 8/10 start menu.
Then, there is "O..." section in the preferences menu, which at least should by changed to "O programie"

How about the other translations?

Fences uses whatever your OS is set to.

Please see here on changing it to English.

BTW: Yes, I saw the the language settings "hack" in the registry by @thewublieshere some posts earlier, but "this in not the user experience we are looking for". ;-)

Hi,

Same here with the french translation, it is.... let's say.... strange.

And why add a language when so many terms are not translated ?

I totally agree with zapsharp, choice of language should be a user choice !

Hello,

We have forwarded your report/request to our Development Team for their review and recommendations.

I cannot, however, provide a timeline for a response or resolution. You will be notified when one is available.

Meanwhile please use those steps suggested by ID above to force it to English.

We really do appreciate your feedback, thanks.

...but it does not change the fact that Fences are awesome! ;-)

Hi,

I second that!

Please add the option to change language.

Regardless of the accuracy of the translation or its "completeness" I find it's always much easier to look for support in English than any other language. Figuring out what the original English term was from the localized version is just a hindrance.

Thanks for looking into implementing this as an option.

Best Regards

Rafal
