Renaming Desktop Icons with Fences

So frustrating....what's the solution?

I don't even know if there is a solution, but I find this to be so frustrating. Here's what happens (and this is just one example of the problem)

I have a fence for business, and within that fence I have a "QuickBooks 2018" icon. If I launch that application, it obviously selects the icon first before it launches the app. Ok, so I do what I need to, close out of QuickBooks and I'm back on my desktop.

Now let's say I create a new folder on my desktop and name it "My New Folder". After I type it in, it names it "My New Folder (1)" - WHY??!? Because the QuickBooks icon was also still "selected" within fence, so it named the QucikBooks icon "My New Folder" and the actual new folder on the desktop "My New Folder (1)" ...

So it seems with fences you can have multiple icons/folders selected on your desktop which causes problems when renaming them.

What's the easiest solution?

I'm running into exactly the same issue.

A temporary workaround (until Stardock decides to address this problem) might be to click into some empty space on your desktop to deselect any selected objects before creating or renaming anything.

...needless to say that this shouldn't be the way it's meant to be.

What version of Windows and Fences are you running

I have Win10 and latest version if Fences....this has been a problem for some time, I don't expect them to fix it - like the lag issue, it's not their priority because according to them, it doesn't affect many people. (that's what they told me)

The lag issue was fixed in the latest update.

It would appear you are not up on current events, david738...

As for your issue for this thread, if you are current, and still see it, a purge and reinstall is in order as it too was also addressed long ago:

Thanks for the note - I did the purge (again) and installed the latest version. So far so good! Very happy if this continues to work!
