Major problems with WB 8 on Windows 8.1

Hello! I'm a new customer although I have a fond experience with WindowBlinds.
I today installed Desktop Object onto my laptop and then installed WB 8.
According to the compatibility list in Object Desktop, both WB 8 and 10 would work in 8.1, but since I have Windows 8.1 I decided to go with WB 8 because by namesake that made more sense.

A quick download and install later and everything turns to black. Only the mouse cursor is visible. Nothing happens for several minutes. Then the lock screen appear, I click on it and sign in. Back to the dark void I went. Seconds later and I'm thrown back to the lock screen. I did a restart, same thing happened. I had to go into safe mode and uninstall WB 8 from there. Then I could access Windows again. So I installed WB 10 instead and that works just fine.

What was that about? :(

They stopped updating WB8 when WB10 came out. (I do understand your logic though, kind of sounds like something I might do.)  Hard to tell what the updates to Win8 have done since then.  Don't know if someone who has had WB8 installed all this time on Win8 can still run it,  maybe, installing it at this point could be different than carrying it along on Win8 updates.

Useful tip: To prevent WindowBlinds from loading at boot, hold the [ctrl] key while pressing [Enter] at the login screen.  Avoids the safe mode routine.

I use Win 8 all the time (I thought I was the only one) and I’m using WB 10 without problems. I don’t know why they still have WB 8 still available. People here have triple boots for Win 7,8 and 10 and they’re using WB 10.

The skin's description and/or screenshot often mentions which Windows versions have been targeted.

Many of the Win7 skins can be used on 8 or 10 with maybe a few hiccups, no guarantees though.

I should also mention that for Win8 you would want Start8, not Start10.  Start8 is Win8 only, Start10 is Win10 only.
