I took the plunge...YAHOO!

Hiya,
THIS IS NOT A "HOW DO I..." thread (that'll be my next thread )
I just purchased and installed My WinCustomize subscription AND ObjectDesktop
Yes, finally

I have a question for everyone willing to take the time to answer. I installed ComponentManager and used to Install WindowBlinds and SkinStudio. Beyond that, who here uses what? Who likes which apps the most? Which have been hassle free? What is "must have" software? Any compatibility <~~~(Jafo?) issues. For instance, I use TweakUI from BillGates. Whats the difference of this Shell Tweak? WinZip vs ObjectZip. And IconPackager... I have heard horror stories.

Finally the other "stuff".. DesktopX ,Object Bar, Webblinds, etc.
I was nervous enough when I 1st installed WB, but it went smooth as silk and works like a charm.
I'd really appreciate as much feedback now on these other apps, "testimonials" from everyone willing to "spill"

thanx

For me, windowblinds and cursorXP are a must have. Icon Packager is next. Now everyone is different but that mine. You said you had a subscription, where is your icon or slug as I call it.

Then I use Icon Packager

Object Bar
(and when I get a new computer)

The icon thats in WOM's post the little folder thing, it shows when you post using Discussions and not the actual message board

ObjectBar is a must have IMO. It allows you to customize in a variety of ways-custom menus, sys tray taskbar, very easy to use WB skins to skin the app the way you choose.(Click on my name for a simple screen shot. Never had a prob W/ Icon Packager.
PS. I enjoy your music as well as your WB & Cursors.

I use WindowBlinds ,of course
SkinSudio
Icon Packager
ObjectDock

I've played around a bit with DesktopX but haven't really found a skin I like a lot for it.
I haven't gotten around to the others yet

For me, the must haves are Windowblinds, CursorXP and IconPackager. That gives me the desktop I want. Also Longon XP of course, but that's a free toy, like WOM said. And Skin Studio to make skins.

For zip, I just use the XP's compressed folder option, works great for what I need.

I find WinRar is great for Zip files, simple right click left click and your done

DPG thanx And thanx everyone for your input. Seems most are using the same as me...
WindowBlinds
SkinStudio
ObjectDock
CursorXP
Im definately gonna try the smaller utilities. I may not go for IconPackager. Im pretty picky about them and not really into swapping them around. But its nice not to see any red flags. I feel I can try any of the "stuff" and not have to worry too much. I'll probably check out ObjectBar and that Tabs thing. Maybe DesktopX, Theres a new one coming right?

Anyway thanx again everyone, my scrollbars are finally skinned and Im way happy so im leaving my "spam slug" visible

Actually paxx, i miss the simplicity of XP's zip handling , Win zip works great, and maybe adds some more function, but you are probably saving yourself a few clicks everytime you mess with a compressed file by simply sticking with what you have

Ingui WinRar is simply DL the file to where you want it then right click it, select extract here and hey presto

I like the way XP handles a zip file like a folder. Double click on it an it opens up like any folder. Don't really need to unzip it sometimes.

Dark Mist, same here. Select, right click, send to -> compressed folder. Tada.
To unzip, drag, right click, extract. That's it.

Dunno. I really don't need anything more, and it can't get easier than this.  But I do have WinRAR anyway, mind you, as well as Stuffit Expander, but I just use them for RAR and SIT files.
