Question: Separate app purchase and software updates?

Hi,

I would like to buy the apps (not all but most of them) that is available via object desktop separately. The reason is that I rather pay once xx$ than to pay every year 20$ to use the very same software. I find this unethical to be honest -I might be alone with this view, but as a customer this is how I feel-

My question is: how long I get free updates if I buy the apps separately? Like Fences, Windowblinds, ShadowFX, etc.? 1 year? or until a major version change?

Question 2: Can I pay maybe for upgrades later on for a cheaper price in case major updates occur? Again I'm disregarding Object Desktop package, that is not cheaper for me on the long run at all.

Thank you kindly for the answers in advance,

Peter

If you purchase Object Desktop you can continue to use the versions even if you let the membership expire. The apps don't stop working at the end of your membership.

Any stand-alone app will receive updates for as long as it's supported.

Upgrades are available for most apps when a new major version is released.

Unfortunately that is not the case as you described the Object Desktop. I have to reinstall since I've done a win10 pc reset. And there is no download option available under my subscription, only renew. I've managed to download Object Desktop Manager, however there are no applications that I can download after logging in.
If you say this is not normal then I report it to support and continue using my old(er) OD apps. However I won't pay for one more year like this, I rather buy the apps and use them infinitely as long as I want.

Thank you kindly for your efforts and information for replying to my questions.

You need to backup your installers that you had during your membership. If your membership is expired then the downloads are not available.

If you used Object Desktop Manager to download or install the applications and didn't change the settings in ODM or delete them the installer files are still in %userprofile%\Downloads\Stardock

I choose to delete all data on C with Reset PC option, so I guess I don't have it, but I might made some profile backup somewhere along the year and I could still got something.

I'm trying go hunt some discount coupon for the producs, in case you know some good discounts (not golden key, I read about that) let me know please I might consider buying a year of sub for much cheaper than 30EUR. :)
