Icon Packager 10.02 BREAKS Windows Components

Used the 'Junior' Icon Package which comes with the Packager on Windows 10.

Works, BUT if I check the Windows Components with the 'SFC'-Command, sfc reports that the components are in need of repair.

After repairing with 'sfc' a lot of icons have been restored to their original images.

What should I do? Apply the icons again and let the components in a 'broken' state?

Anyone else with the same problem?

I only run SFC if I'm having problems.  Don't fix what isn't broken.

SFC quite often claims to find problems then says it can't fix them. Especially on Windows 10.

As for the icons, MS probably don't like us changing things.

So, it is my humble opinion that if your PC is running correctly, don't run SFC.

That is an issue. I have had problems with that particular software since the Creators Update. It caused Windows Live Tiles to cease working. Disabled the Start button. Caused taskbar icons to disappear. Circumvented that by booting to Safe Mode to install. Everything was fine, until I ran SFC. That "fixed" things, but as soon as I changed the icons back to the Icon Packager package. My PC went bonkers again.

Windows Creators Update & Icon Packager do not get along. At least not on my PC.

So far, I've only had one issue with Icon Packager on Windows 10 w/ latest Insider build, which of this writing is: 170624-1334. That issue pertains to Window's default icon set not appearing correctly in the list of icons. The only 'icon' that shows in the preview is internet explorer. I would say that I'd be worried to use a custom icon set, due to the fear of not being able to revert back, however, I was already using a custom set when I came across this anomaly.  So, I guess I'll just continue to attempt using custom icons and know that if necessary, I could always uninstall - reinstall to revert back to the original Windows icon set.

I believe one dll is modified by IconPackager due to how Microsoft implemented some icons.

Do not worry it will get replaced correctly with any patches Microsoft issue.  It will not cause issues and nothing is 'broken'

The issue reported by richfed is entirely unrelated and unique as best we can tell.

I do not think that my issue is "totally" unrelated. SFC finds problems every time I run it if I have Icon Packager active.

Neil just explained that to you.

Plain English as far as I'm concerned. ;)
