That ugly green button

Hallo!

I'm from Sweden so the only thing I know is to how to cook.
Therefore I need help...
On my Window Taskbar I use the bar where you write URL:s, Adress Bar?
On that bar is an ugly green button with a white arrow.
How can I get rid of the arrow?

Magnus

Under Internet Options from the Tools menu in IE go to the Advanced tab and uncheck "use go button in address bar".

hmmm looks like some kind of ms standard button there. I just checked it and am getting the same thing. Really doesn't go with my current skin at all. Maybe a developer will pop in and read this thread.

I'd also like to be able to change the 'throbber' in Explorer windows but haven't found a way to do that yet. Another standard MS thing that messes with the theme. WB4 sure does a nice job on all the rest of it though...

WebBlinds will changed throbber, but theres alot of animation frames in there :o

Pitty not alot of good WebBlinds, i should look into that

DavidK, i beleive you can also change the IE throbber by editing the registry. however, i would definetly agree with Voodoo_FreaK, and suggest web blinds instead. a somewhat less drastic approach

WebBlinds only changes it in the browser, I want to change it in Explorer windows.

ah. i beleive the animation is stored as a simple animated file somewhere in windows.

so, plan a:
find and replace this file with a different one

plan b:
find the registry entry for this animation, and edit it.

i dont remember any more off hand though. you might find some pointers in the history of the webblinds news group.

I've never noticed any animation in the Explorer one so maybe I shouldn't call it a "throbber". It's the white square with the windows flag in the upper right corner of every Explorer window. My guess is the graphic is in a DLL.

You can change the throbbers by replacing some bitmaps in shell32.dll. You can also turn it off or on in the registry. It works on 98, 2000, and XP. http://toastytech.com/files/throboff.html

Thanks Eldar, that should be enough to get it done
