Stardock ripoff

I have been using the shareware version of windowblinds for quite some time. I have been very happy with it and decided to buy the full version of WB4. Unfortunately, the company that sells windowblinds hasn't realized yet that not everybody uses a credit card. Is there a different way to pay for this or am I out of luck? Another question - If I can pay for it some other way, is that a one time charge I paying for windowblinds or is it like that Object desktop crap that I have to dish out money every year to renew it?

I payed by money order. Of course that isn't very fast, but that had little to do with Stardock.

There is no need to subscribe to WB.

ObjectDesktop is a little different. All products that will be released for it will be yours for $50. That includes WindowBlinds, DesktopX and ObjectBar. There is no need to subscribe for the next year ($35), but of course you will not receive any upgrades in that year.

BTW: Why are you so negative about SD and still want to buy their product?

I am not negative about stardock, I was just ticked off when they asked for a credit card number and I cut mine up over a year ago. I have been happy with WB and was excited about WB4. If I buy WB4 and let's say WB4.5 or WB5 comes out next spring (just for an example) do I have to pay extra for that or is there free upgrades for people that have bought previous versions? I'm sure I can find that out of their website but I am just being lazy.

Never mind that last question... I just saw it on the home page just now - upgrade to WB4 is $10. Next time I'll open up my eyes.

Debit Cards work just fine

No problem

And oh, remember: WB4 is for XP. There will be a version for other versions of Windows shortly.

Have fun.

I'm confused, surely if Stardock were ripping you off, they'd already have to be in possesion of your money, nón?

Why is the title of your thread "Stardock Ripoff"? That is extremely slanderous considering you haven't even sent them any money yet. My suggestion to you, as a moderator on this site, is that you start a new thread with a different title, and ask for information about payment methods in a more reasonable manner. I really take exception to baseless accusations like this, and I don't even work for Stardock.
Get a grip.

Actually, it would be (though of course it's not, in the legal sense) slanderous, not libelous. Hippy is right that normally if the allegation is written it is libel, but in this case it would fall under the slander category because it was posted on an internet message board. Different rules apply in cyberspace in the US.

For those who don't have credit cards, Pre-Paid Credit Cards are available in Wal-Mart.

For those needing sales information there is a phone number and also an email address, imagine that...

Stardock has always accepted orders from people without credit cards. See https://www.stardock.com/order.txt

I'm not much impressed with the thread title, either.

Being 'polite' really isn't all that difficult, you know...

volsung.....the spoken word is 'transient', requiring an immediate audience, whereas the written word is accessible for a greater period and a wider audience.
That being the case, I think 'libel' is more correct for a message board, where the statement is, or can be publicly available for days or more....

Oil2003:"Unfortunately, the company that sells windowblinds hasn't realized yet that not everybody uses a credit card"

Actually, we (Stardock) have always taken money orders and checks as long as they are in US funds. GR's link of: https://www.stardock.com/order.txt is correct. You can also email sales@stardock.com for sales information, which is more logical source for information on Stardock products then posting on a public forum.

She said you were right...that you are never right, which is wrong, as, in fact, you always are...

I think, therefore I'm right, but the wife says I'm wrong. She's probably right.

Thank you KarmaGirl for providing me with that information. I would also like to thank everybody else on here for helping me - sorry about the title of the thread. It was never my intention to make it sound rude, I couldn't think of any other title, plus I thought it would get some attention.
