Stuck on wait problem - every couple of turns

Ok, I read about the stuck on "wait" prob here https://forums.galciv3.com/478894

I had it one or two times before myself, but since it was not too serious and got reported already I did not want to start another thread.

However, I played ca. 150 turns in my recent game and I get this problem now every ca. 5 turns. The game does not crash, I can access all screens/menus/functions, it just does not progress to the next turn.

Fortunately, the prob is gone after save/reload - but it does occur now again and again and is seriously harming the gaming experience.

Is there anything I can do about it from my side - or anything I can do to help to track down and solve this thing (do you need savegames? or anything else?)

Had the same thing occure earlier this week, never had it before, reloaded a couple times and it still cropped up. Bonced back a few saves (very rustrating) and it seemed to play through the sticking point.

I thought 1st it's related to autosave, since it comes up regularly. However, turning off autosaving has no effect.

I did also read through the troubleshooting page here:

https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/496/161/general-galactic-civilizations-iii-troubleshooting#Report

I did not reinstall the game yet, but validated my installation. Steam says 2 files were damaged and dl-ed them anew. This did not solve the issue.

I want to run the support tool and maybe submit a ticket, but I do not get the dl to run properly from this link http://sd.stardock.com/Support/supportToolTest/SDSupportTool.exe

Is there an alternative link somewhere? Clikcing the link above starts a DL for me (Firefox) which however does never get finished (should be quick since it says it's only 1,7 MB)

edit:  dl-ing the support tool now worked fine.

Hm, I did now run the support tool and wanted to submit a ticket, yet somehow I never get it through  - after filling in ticket details, attaching files etc. the ticket page tries to "connect" for long (busy cursor on Firefox tab ca. 10mins) then tells me the captcha is wrong.

I might have entered not correctly, but this happened now several times so I'm rather unsure what to do  - after the 1st time it happened I looked extra carefully to get it right. I tried now to file a ticket several times and I don't think I made mistakes every time whe entering the captcha.

Is there a mail adress where I can send ticket details and attachments to?

Sigh, I started two more games under 1.83, mods deactivated.

In both cases the early stages went without any probs, but ca. between turn 50 and 100 the "stuck" appeared the first time. I tried to get a round it by reloading an earlier autorsave, which helped initially.

But when I progress more into the game, the problem starts to appear more often again, which really detroys the fun when it goes so far that it comes up regularly every couple turns.

Which is a pity, I hadn't played in quite a long time, and before this prob occured the 1.83 games went nicely from the tech POV ( no other probs regarding stability/performance/turn times  - all seemed very fluid until this damn "stuck" prob shows up and messes up my games :( )

I understand 1.84 will arrive this week, then I make another attempt.

Unfortunately I still run into the same prob with opt-in v190. It has become a major source of frustration for me, since it occured in every game I launched since I returned to play GC3 with v1.83 a short while ago.

I gave up ever single one of these games before turn 160 since at this point it happens in rather short intervals, making it painful to continue. The point at which it does happen first in a game varies wildly though (sometimes I had it first after just 25 turns, sometimes only at 110).

On the plus side, today I was able to file a suport ticket about it.

Ok, after this problem nearly drove me mad it seems I found the cause, but it sounds a bit weird:

The *stuck* seems to happen mostly because the game sometimes either misses ships that have still moves left or it wrongly expects me to move ships or fleets that are parked on guard or sentry orders.

So I get a greyed out "wait" on the turn button, when instead there should be either an "idle ship" msg (when I need to move still) or it should just progress normally (when it happens to ships on guard/sentry).

Strangely enough when being stuck on that greyed out "wait" the game seemed to demand higher CPU/gfx performance, as I noted the fans in my machine turn higher.

I found out by accident that when "stuck" searching through my ships/fleets and moving those that still can the game suddenly started the next turn for the AI normally. Also I started to move ships on guard/sentry - that helped too in some cases. So I can progress to the next turn that way an the fans go back to normal.

It still is a problem which should not happen, because it can get a royal pain when I basically have to move everything around manually, but at least I don't get stuck anymore then.
