Start10 messed up - tried uninstall re-install not helping

I have a licensed version of Fences so I though to try out Start10 too.

But it does not really work as I thought it would. I tried uninstalling and re-installing but it makes no difference.

Even though I set Control to show Start10 menu on Start Button and windows key, it only shows Start10 menu if I use Modern style under control. If I use Windows 10 Style I dont see anything different from standard Windows 10 e.g. my Fences dont appear in the All Programs list. (I have enabled the Show Stardock and Fences option)

Now, when I click Start button it shows a few random entries from my Fences in the left hand side of the Start10 menu - but only if I enable Show Recent.

If I unclick 'show recently used' then I get nothing down the left hand side (apart from the Windows 10 Menu link and All Programs link)

So, apart from Recently Used, is there no other way to get some favourites etc added to the left hand side?

The option to show Fences in the menu only applies to the Windows 7 and Modern Style looks.  The Windows 10 style option is simply there as a convenience and is the standard Windows 10 one.

Regarding the left hand list in the other menus, As with the menu in Windows 7, you can pin items to the list by either dragging them to the start menu, or right clicking on them in explorer and selecting pin to start (Start10)

You cannot however pin a Fence itself to the start menu, though you can pin a folder (Fences are not folders if the icons are from the Desktop itself)
