Problem... Fences make my desktop black, when i slide between multiple desktops

Hi, my fences make my desktop black, mostly when i switch between multiple fences desktop, but also when i close a browser window, for example. when i draw my mouse on icon i see the the original blu appear behind some icons. I have a simple blu colored desktop and my graphic card is an hd intel with driver well updated. I'm currently working with two monitors, the laptop one and another.

Why do this happen?

I am unable to reproduce what you describe using Fences 3.03

You should probably contact support so we can collect some data: https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Tickets/Submit

We only ever had seen this issue on Windows 7 that had Aero / DWM issues.

If on Win10, I would recommend a rip and reinstall of your video drivers.

Use the link(s) below for updating depending on your video card:

Intel:

Nvidia:

Note: Please perform a "clean installation" if you have an Nvidia graphics card. The below screenshots will help with how to do that:

I am having the same problem.  Fences had worked nicely for years, then my HDD crashed and everything had to be reinstalled, including Windows 10 Pro.  Now I get random black squares and sometimes a black background.  Tech support could only say purge and reinstall, but the problem persists.

I have three displays on my system and the problem reliably presents when moving to other desktops.

I really would like to continue using Fences, but the black superpixels is a show stopper for me.

As I suggested above, if you have recently reinstalled Windows, you are going to want to make sure you have updated video drivers as well.

I am having the exact same problem.  I have a fast gaming machine i7 with 16GB of memory and SSD.  I know it's not my computer.

Have Stardock replied with a fix yet or do we need to get a refund for this know problem?

Its natural to believe / think that but it rarely the case or we would see it more (Fences 3 has been out for a long long time).

1. 2.   Fences 3.09

3.   I thought it was my pc and did a new OS load.   The minute I installed Fences it started back.  The monitor, or portions of it will turn black, then the entire screen and change again in no certain order.  Sometimes I can use Update when I right click on the desktop and it will clear it only to come back in a few minutes.   I have an NVidia card and the entire hp Envy is factory stock.    This is not new, it has done it for a couple of years but became really an issue in the past several months.  Both drives are SSD.   I really like Stardock and especially the Cusor and Fences and have been a customer for years.   I downloaded a couple of others last night and none approach Fences when its working.  I sure wish you luck in finding the problem because it looks like it is widespread.  Thanks  Dr. Mike Fariss  ***************

Hello Dr. Mike Fariss,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you tried any of the suggestion steps mentioned by Support above? https://forums.stardock.com/480588/get;3697499 and Cleanboot as mentioned here : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot. Try it one at a time reboot is a must. Retest it and report back.

Thanks

I do not want to speak too soon but the display going black in various places cause me to get rid of Fences after years of usage.  Two days ago, on a whim, I changed my background from a plain solid blue to the official windows 4 panes with reflection and then I loaded the old Fences 2.o and used it for a while.   Then I loaded version 3 and have been using it for two days with no display problems.    If it starts back I will try to determine what changed.   So far, So good.
