WindowBlinds doesn't start (Win 10)

Hi,

A few years ago I bought WindowBlinds. Then I kept on upgrading it to match newer operating systems. For some time I'm a Windows 10 user and I wanted so badly compatible WindowBlinds 10 to come out. About a month ago I downloaded the trial version of WB 10 and it worked just great. The trial period ended, so I uninstalled WB.

Yesterday I decided to upgrade my licence for WB10. I bought it and downloaded the WB10.5 installer. After installing it, nothing happened. Well, actually the WB control panel appears for like half a second and then it disappears. I can't use WB, neither enter my serial number. I don't want to re-install my Windows.

I think that the trial version of WindowBlinds, which expired, left something (files, registry entries, etc.) in my operating system that prevent WB 10.5 from working.

Uninstalling and installing WB again doesn't help.

Please help me. I want to use my licensed version...

Which registry entries or files, folders should I delete to make it happen?

Thanks in advance,

Paweł Lewandowski

Did you reboot your computer every time you uninstalled and reinstalled? In other words uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.

Yes, I did that. I tried several times.

Same thing happening to me.  Bought ObjectDesktop.  Installed ShadowFX, worked fine.  Installed WindowsBlinds, control window flashes briefly and disappears every time I try to run (so can't use/configure.)

Delete the Windowblinds folder, then reinstall Windowblinds.

Here's the help I got from the Customer Care (I hope it's allowed to be posted here?):

"Hello,

The following tool will purge the application for a possible re-install (if that is the goal).

**IMPORTANT** Please save any open documents/work and close out all of your applications including browsers. Your PC may restart after running this .bat file.

Please follow this link:

http://sd.stardock.com/zubaz/apps/Purge_WB.bat

Save the file to your desktop, right click it and select "Run as Administrator" if you're on Vista/7/8/8.1/10

http://screencast.com/t/Zv5LzdG8W8

Just run it if you're on XP as the Administrator option is not available for that OS.

If you are running Windows 8/10, you may be notified that Windows is protecting your PC. Select "More info" and then "Run anyway".

Reboot the computer and reinstall the application. Note: It is important to get the most recent version of the application.

For getting your product and key, please see the following:

https://www.stardock.com/support/productkeyretrieval

Please DO NOT change any of the default settings until you verify that the application is running as expected in its default state.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

For me it worked without any issues.

Good luck and write if that solved your problem, fkarg.
