Fences brighter at the bottom of the screen

I have the latest paid version of Fences and the fences towards the top of the screen are dark.  They get lighter the further down they go until the bottom ones are fully bright.  I don't like this.  I want them all the same color but I can't find a setting to adjust this.  How can I set them all to the same color?

There is no setting to do what you describe seeing.  Can you post a screenshot?

If you drag your taskbar from the bottom of the screen over to the side, making it a vertical taskbar, is the top of the taskbar too dark and the bottom too light?

It sounds to me more like your monitor/screen is going.

(You can go out today and buy a new monitor and it'll do that.  I'm looking at one  ;)  )

How do I post a screenshot?

I see an image insert button but it wants a URL.

My taskbar is black and the color does not change from top to bottom when I drag it to the side as you suggest.

It's more visible with a midrange color as opposed to an extremely light or dark taskbar.

Of course I don't know if that's what your issue is, but it does sound like my monitor.

Simple, I know, but try moving a fence to the bottom of the screen, and tilt the screen, or change your angle of view.

I have had monitors where everything was darker/brighter at the bottom.

There could be a button on your keyboard, top row... says "print screen" .. hit that, then open irfanview, paint or whatever you have and then save. That will be your screenshot.

Yup. Some will, especially if it's not an IPS screen.

'Correct' viewing angle for a computer monitor [or TV] is for your eyeline to be slightly above the centerline of the screen as it reduces neck and eyestrain.

If you're dramatically beyond 'the norm' with your ergonomics there can be a colour shift in the screen, however that has nothing to do with Fences at all and is neither a feature nor a fault of Fences.

There are various online sites with methods or test patterns to set a monitor correctly [or at least determine if it's age/use is such that it's time for a new one].

Check there has been no recent [inadvertent] Video Driver update that has not borked your system.

Ya it was an extra bonus of my TN panel - a universe of constant vertical gradient.

I know how to take a screen shot ... however, there is no attachment button on the post editor.  As I mentioned above, the insert image button only allows a URL.

The way to do it is to upload the screenshot to an image hosting site. Then you have a url to post.

I use Dropbox. But there is also Imageshack, Photoshack, and tinypic.

Actually, they all look the same to me. Which would be normal. Because the screenshot will not necessarily show what you actually see, due to viewing angle.

Dit you try what I said? Tilt the monitor. Or stand up and look at the monitor from a different angle.

The screenshot will not take viewing angle into consideration.

You're right.

If I stand up and look down at the monitor, the colors don't change from top to bottom.

I'm very ergonomic minded and have my monitors dead center to my eyes at a slight downward tilt.

So now that I know that there's nothing I can do about it, I'll just deal with it.

Thanks for helping me to figure that out.

Good. So, not a Fences thing, but a you thing...lol.

Glad to help.   ;)

This is a problem monitors using TN Film technology suffer from.  IPS and VA based screens do not have the same problem with different angles making colours look different.

When buying a monitor look at the viewing angles.  If it says 160/170 degrees it will be TN Film.  178 or higher will be IPS/VA.  TN Film screens also tend to have a 1ms response time vs the 4/5+ for the other technologies (but at a cost of colour quality)

Thanks for that info!

I will make a note of that for future monitor purchases.
