CursorXP Cursors portable to RedHat Linux 9 XFree 4.3.0

I just upgraded one of my home systems to RedHat 9 and I found this site on the web. As a ODNT subscriber, I found it interesting that someone has written a Perl script to port Stardock's CursorXP Cursors into a format that can be used in Linux.

For those who don't know, the new XFree 4.3.0 has the ability to use customized cursors.

Here's an excerpt from the site:

For end users there are more visible changes apparent as well. For starters, XFree86 now has the Xcursor extension for mouse cursor themes. It even supports animation and translucency. Red Hat created a very nice looking mouse theme that is used by default. I imagine it won't be long before the current authors of Linux desktop themes start including mouse cursors as part of their themes as well. Meanwhile, you can use the large collection of Stardock CursorXP mouse themes by using the sd2xc.pl conversion script. Go read Nicholas Petreley's Adding eye candy to your desktop article for more details.

Oh what fun we'd have if the odd cursor artist or three had a fundamental aversion to having their art used on Linux systems....and have their copyrights undermined by proximity/association with the open-source fraternity....

scared of that little script? why not beeing scared of graphics editors like Photoshop that makes cutting/pasting so easy.

to be honest i doubt there is much in the CursorXP library that could be interesting to convert anyways.
