Fences won't open programs after Windows 10 Anniversary Update was installed

Left-clicking program icon will not open program

I just installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Upgrade. Now, when I click on an icon in one of my Fences, nothing happens. Files or programs will not open.

I'm having bigger issues than that at the moment since installing that Anniversary update yesterday, Fences seems to be repeatedly breaking Windows Explorer to the point that I can't really click anything, it just keeps breaking and re-starting itself.  It eventually stabilized enough after many reboots and re-starts for me to uninstall until the issue gets addressed.

After uninstalling Fences the issue went away so it does appear to be specifically Fences-related.

Fences 3 plain doesn't work after the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition update is applied. On startup, I get no fences and no icons on my desktop.

Make sure to know the version number of Fences you have installed.

Fences 3.0.1 is working on my anniversary update Windows 10 installation, but I did a clean install of Win 10 after the AU, so I didn't update to the AU.

I did a clean installation of Win 10 with the AU because the update process through Windows Update messed up my PC. But before performing the clean installation, I noticed that Aero Glass, and Fences both were broken by the AU update.

I expect that Fences 3 only needs to be reinstalled after the AU, to get it working again.

Not in my case. I uninstalled Fences and reinstalled. Still getting BSOD. I had to uninstall completely. I'm too lazy to clean install Windows 10. I have some databases running for Sonarr and Plex that I don't feel like backing up and restoring. I love Fences but not enough to go through all that work.

I had the same issue, though not sure if it was because of windows update. Anyway, just figured out what happened. It was the quick hide feature. Just double-click on your desktop. Alternatively you can disable this by:

Right-click on desktop -> configure fences -> quick hide tab -> uncheck "enabled"

For me that brought the fences back.
