Radar

I understand fog of war and all that.  What I don't understand is when I put up a radar and I still can't see enemy units that go within my radar range until they actually come close enough to me they are no longer in the fog of war.  What is the point of having radar?  I hope I am just a simple idiot and don't understand anything.  Please tell me there is a reason to put up the radar.  in most game even with FOG when they come into your radar circle you cant see them on the main map but you can on your strategic map.  Why why why why is this not happening?

You need to spend Quanta to improve radar range, once it's boosted enough it will cover huge surfaces.

It's also good practice to put radar towers close to your defences.

From what I've been able to determine you can't get a visual of the units with radar but you do get to see that *something* is there through fog of war.

Would be a really nice improvement if increased radar coverage (upgrades) would allow more info like show specific icons if dreads are present (or icon + number for each unit type T1, T2, dread, aircraft).

There's another thread full of suggestions for future improvements on the Steam community page that asked for a future radar upgrade path that would allow adding a visual aspect to the sensor/radar tower (maybe an orbital ability similar to amplify applied to a sensor tower allowing *satellite* visual of anything within radar coverage, or add an autonomous UAV that spawns from the sensor tower and circles around providing visual of the radar coverage area?).

For now though, just get to see the red blob in the fog of war.

I'd b interested to know a list of units limited by restricted radar ie chronos

and which units are aided by increasing radar range.  I'm assuming of course tha current units can shoot out side of vision range of it can se enemy on radar.  If they can't then yeah it needs improving if I'm going to spend my hard earned quanta on it ..

DOn't know if it's just me, but I have found limited use for radar. Sure, it's range is reasonably far. BUT, I have noticed that having an apolo is a reasonable alternative, because they fire pretty far too. So when they start firing, I know the opponent is close. Just sayin.

Granted, I'm not winning so frequently just yet. :)

The advanteg with the radar is to know where your opponents army is heading. basicly its a tool that allows you to react to the enemys forces by sending your army to prevent powergen losses or nodes as we call them.

Exsample: knowing where the main army is very vital same goes for suprise attacks to lone nodes, however it important to match the opponents movements with yours.

if the enemy sends a large army to the top, you need to respond, otherwise loss a lot of nodes and income of course radars can keep an eye on their movements but cant tell what is in that army thats the job of the scout to get the intel so you can build a counter army that can deal with enemys army.

Lastly knowing your opponents weak spots and when they present them self to you is when you gain the advanteg if you are prepeard for it.

the one that attacks with out knowing what he will face will end up in a bad situation and otherwise losses that coulde be avoided is instead given the enemy the advantege.

the most important thing in stragety is to get your opponent to move into an unfavorable position. Thus in strategy it means to take the first step in order to move the opponenet into your plan that favors your outcome.

Seems good advice, but am not yet at point where I can do all that. I spend a lot of time clicking on things ;)

.. not to mention I still am learning which troops I should use to counter...
