Have you rebooted your car lately?

I'm sure this might be really cool (http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techinnovations/2003-03-27-car-windows_x.htm), but I'm not sure I want to reboot my car before starting it up Reminds me of the old joke about What if you car was built by Mircosoft

If you're so impatient, move the Canada. You could get your licence right now (16 is the age).

Eclet, yes I did read the article and do understand whet telematics is. The article simply struck me as funny. I understand that they are seperate systems. I also understand that it doesn't mean that MS will stop trying to get "Windows" to be used in other functions of the car. This post was largely meant as a humorous post. I am a programmer and deal with the foibles of Windows on a regular basis .
Oh and btw, linux in the car is no better than windows. Now i have to recompile my car before I can start it, no thanks!

/me notes that ogres have a sense of humour too

Weaksid: Actually there is a small car in Europe, I think, which comes with user replaceable panels. You *can* change your car

Well, the smart can have it's panels changed

But I think it would be funny to be driving along, poke a nice touch sensitive screen (it would have to be one of them....) and make the look of the car computer totally change. Perhaps we should have CarBlinds???

BTW, I think the Smart is the small car which werewolf refers to.... http://www.thesmart.co.uk/index.html

That's that Daimler Chrysler car that gets like 58 mpg, isn't it? I've heard of it. (Hubby works for a company that is owned by and engineers for Daimler Chrysler and Mercedes). It has "accessories" such as body panels. "If you want to buy your smart a new outfit, we will be pleased to exchange your bodypanel set for a new one in a different colour at any smart centre." Sick of your red car? Make it Blue! Must be easy to repair body damage. It only takes the time of an oil change
