[1.61] UI problem with renaming planets window

Firstly, apologies if this topic has been raised before. My search turned up nothing on this specific problem, but I find you never can trust forum searches implicitly. :)

I seem to have stumbled upon a problem with the UI when renaming a planet from the 'Govern Planet' window (main planet surface window -> govern planet button in bottom left -> rename planet button below planet options).

Sometimes the window this opens is behind the planet management window, so that you only see it when you close that window.

I say sometimes because I just reloaded a save after checking the build number, and upon testing this error I found that every planet opened the rename window immediately, and on top of the current window. I know for a fact I have had occaisons when the rename window is hidden. When I first noticed this problem I clicked on rename planet button and nothing happened, so I clicked a number of times more out of frustration (or thinking it was unresponsive) and ended up with many rename planet windows once I closed the planet window. I actually thought the feature was broken until I realised it had opened a number of rename planet windows behind the window I was using.

My thought is that this may be a bug that only occurs when a planet is newly settled. I often rename a planet to include whether I want it to be industrial or farming etc the first time I set a build queue up, i.e. upon being newly settled.

Hopefully you can recreate this because I promise you this is happening. I know it sounds bizarre, and the fact I mention I've seen it working right has me coming across as a crazy person.

I am aware you can change planet names on the map. I haven't really used that since I re-picked up the game with the new expansion. I hadn't played for quite a few months, but I don't remember ever coming across this with the release build.

I believe you that it happens.  Can you help me in reproducing it?  What is your resolution and UI scale set to?

I have seen this on occasions.  It is not solely due to new colonization, although that is where I see it most, for the same usage reasons as OP.  I just use renaming less often.  But I do occasionally rename previously settled planets and have had this behavior occur.  I have not found a consistent set of trigger actions.  If I attempt to re-enter the re-naming screen again, it shows up properly.  My impression is that it is happening less than it used to, but that is a subjective opinion of an intermittent symptom.

Yes, I've seen this also. For me, it only does happen with new planets being colonized, captured "new" planets don't do this for me. It's quite consistent on my end. Every time I colonize a new planet if I immediately go into the govern screen and then try to rename from there, the window will always be behind the one I'm just on. Close the planet windows all out and there it is. It's done this for a very long time now.

EDIT: Just started a new game (finally got to see some of the new features! Like auto clearing of the notifications screen!!!) and for the first time in a very very long time, it didn't do it to me... LOL I'll check on the next few new colonizations and see.

End of pshaw's quote

I can sure try to help. My resolution is set to 1920x1080 (native) and my UI size is the default normal. The game runs fullscreen.

I believe the only option I have changed is to unhide the hex grid outside of my influence.

Unlike others, I hadn't ever seen this before. I had over 50 hours in the game before I returned to it this last week, and I don't recall ever seeing this little bug before.

I hope you can reproduce it.
