Game Crash when selecting the Snathi race

Hi,

I tried to play with the Snathi as a race but everytime I try to start a game it crashes. As far as I can interpret the debug xml file it happens when game creats the starting fleet of the snathi. The crash apears like when I chose a race with shipstyle that I already deleted. So I checked the data and realized that the snathi designs are not in the main design folder of the game. They rather have their own DLC3 folder.

With other races I can chose the Snathi designs so this path seem to work. Anyone a suggestion where the problem is?

If you've deleted a Snathi ship style and the game does not load, I would suggest re-installing the Snathi DLC

No I didn´t. I just checked with mods off and snati works again. Must be one of the mods but I dont see how that can be. Why just the snathi?

The snathi are special but not in a way that would be directly affected by the mods option.

I've also had problems playing with my own custom mods since I bought the Snathi DLC. I have a custom 'FactionsDef.xml' for the main races, as well as a few that alter ship battle behaviours (which ships are prioritised in combat) and UI colour xmls. All of these worked before I bought the Snathi DLC but since then I get CTD when starting new games.

Anything i I can do to help this would be appreciated.

I haven't logged in in forever (been taking a long break from GC III), but I happened to see this in passing.

If any mod has the file StarSystemDefs.xml in it, it MUST be updated to include the Snathi starting system. The game will crash at map generation without it as it won't be able to generate the Snathi homesystem.

Likewise, any mod that has:

ContinentDefs.xml

PlanetArtDefs.xml

PlanetDefs.xml

Probably need to be updated to run properly as they contain info about the Snathi that might be different from the minor race version of the Snathi

And the following might need to be updated as well:

ShipClassDefs.xml

StaticShipBlueprintDefs.xml

For the same reason.

Hey man, thanks for replying, unfortunately I don't have the above in my mod (yet) but I've already taken into account the Snathi files that are relevant in my mod (aka UI colour defs) by copy / pasting the relevant Snathi data from the original file.

I have since made some tests and found:

The mod works fine if I deactivate the Snathi DLC.

It also works fine if the mods are deactivated

It also works if I have mods on, but the Snathi are Not one of the contending races.

It crashes (to desktop) however if the Snathi are in game with mods active.

Seems like theres a red a conflict there somewhere. Would be good to have some Dev input.

hi, sry for not replying.

was busy at work. so i experiance the same as cat_fuzz. in my mod i use the option to add things and not to replace so it shouldnt affect the snathi dlc at all. all the original data are unafected in game and only data related to my race has been added. like a starting star system, faction uniqe ships and planets. as far as i understand the whole modding system, if you dont use exactly the same name for the files, game will allways use the standard files plus adds the customized ones. works with the standard races but not with the snathi. might be because of the weird placement of the dlc`s. we have the standard file structure for the main data, the mod file structure for the mod data and now we have an extra file structure for the dlc´s which is maybe too much for the system. cant understand why the snathi are not implemented in the main game as a main race. they are rather handeled like a mod with an own modfile structure. maybe two different modfile structures are not compatible for the game. i think this is definetly something not intended from the dev team.
