Some noob questions and noob suggestions

Good day to everyone,

I have purchased this wonderfull game 4 days ago and have 10 hours of gameplay.
However i find it a bit dissapointing that a 40€ game (20 with sale) you need to see a youtube link to get a decent tutorial and still don't get one!

And now even with these movies and some searches here on the forums i need a few noob questions answered...

1-what do sandstorms do?
2-why would you ever build an ice condenser apart from the small energy need the water pump is superior in every way
3-how is the center colony being affected (i know that they purchase things off the market to increase prices but how does it's expansion work?)
4-how does the debt systen really work cuzz you can go in large amounts of debt without having a real problem.
5-how does your own stock price work and what are al the things that affect it?
6-what affect fuel cost for transporters? (took me a while to find out they arn't free either)
7- what affects the prices off the offworld market?

Since i can't resist i also have a few suggestions:

A-a timer for how long a match is going on! big want!
B- when you capture an attack with a goon squad i'd still like to see it's description now it is only a title wich can be hard for a new player
C-when you place an adjecent mine or factory you would also see how much they improve themself
D- perhaps an idea for a black market item or auction item to have a tile removed and claim a new one somewhere else.
E- when you are late game and the % timer increases for someone to buy you out it might be nice to have the music getting more exiting and louder as the % increase. also this timer could be appearing for every opponent the moment all the available stocks have been sold.

I also like to say that it is a shame that this great game is being priced so high, i think many people back down for the price and this is keeping multiplayer lobby most of the time empty... However i really do like you have the option to play a match while you are waiting for a multiplayer game good work!

If you guys really do need to get more money for/from the game perhaps lower the price a bit and sell ingame content like portraits, sounds, skins or whatever shit seems to sell quikly thqt doesn't alter gameplay.

Regarding tutorials - This will all be coming later. It's in beta now so the developers are working on refining gameplay first. The best way to learn the game is to watch youtube videos anyway. You'll learn 10x more about strategy.

Regarding your other questions:

Sand storms boost the production of your windmills for a period of time and hurt farms and dry ice production

Ice condensers are good on a low water map but otherwise are inferior to a nearby water pump since they turn off at night.

Check out cubit's guide to answer some of the questions for 5-6. I'll edit this response and post the link.

EDIT- Here's the link to all of cubit's guides. They're in this forum thread:

https://forums.offworldgame.com/462300/page/1/

A- There is already a timer at the top left. It counts in Sol and tells you how many days have elapsed.

B- Unclear what you mean on this one

EDIT: looks like most of the other questions were covered.

Hello,

Glad to hear you're enjoying the game, it's a friendly community if you can find us. Feel free to add me (UltraPope) on steam and I can add you to a group so you can find some more players. My tip would be send everyone you meet a friend request, the only way you can get FFA at the moment is spamming invites to people online/organising your own.

1) They make wind turbines generate more power and solar less for their duration. They used to make farms less efficient, not sure if they still do as I think the tooltip has been changed.

2)It absolutely is but if there are no water tiles left/only low water tiles and they are far away then if you have founded on snow then hazah. I use them rarely but they stop people from monopolising a very important resource in some cases.

3)Errrr Soren? Not sure, it expands as the game goes on and people upgrade their colonies but the exact science of it eludes me.

4)Debt is only a killer over time-you get to D level and you can't use the black market and your interest payments will be huge, you don't fix this and your stock price will fall rapidly as you spiral out of the game. This is a big killer in multiplayer FFA. Debt diving is a valid tactic especially in 1v1 which tend to be shorter and taking on debt shouldn't be avoided. I often put getting power off until my third or fourth level HQ if I think I can make more money from my tiles before i'm forced to put some power down to stop the bleed.  One of the most common 1v1 mistakes I see is putting down power at level 1, it's a wasted tile and will just  slow your upgrades imo.

5) Stock price is affected by level of debt, level of hq and value of buildings, how much of your stock is unowned/owned by you/owned by others, cash to a smaller extent it feels

6) Distance from your colony, price of fuel and if you have water engine/teleportation. I think steel/carbon for scav is also used in small ammounts to make the trucks but don't quote me

7) They are randomly (or psuedo randomly) determined at the start of the game

Hopefully I've been helpful/not too drastically wrong and this keeps you until a dev gets to this post and corrects everything I just said.

- Affect the output of some buildings: 200% windturbines, 50% solar panels/condensers/hydroponic farms
2-why would you ever build an ice condenser apart from the small energy need the water pump is superior in every way: Some maps have little water, or it creates and alternate use for a tile. Building switching to the most profitble building is important
3-how is the center colony being affected (i know that they purchase things off the market to increase prices but how does it's expansion work?) I've never bothered to learn. Cheap life support= growth. Expensive = stagnation. Something about pleasure domes too.
4-how does the debt systen really work cuzz you can go in large amounts of debt without having a real problem. The more debt, the higher the interest rates, based on a ratio of debt to value. D level debt prevents using the black market. 30% interest is crippling. Until that threshhold, its usually better to burn cash growing instead of paying down debt.
5-how does your own stock price work and what are al the things that affect it? Not sure exactly what the current formula is. Certain buildings/patents/etc give you a bonus by being first to build. Shares owned. Shares you own. Debt/assets.
6-what affect fuel cost for transporters? (took me a while to find out they arn't free either) The price of fuel and the distance shipped.
7- what affects the prices off the offworld market? Randomized at the start of the match. Life support is almost always the highest value.

Since i can't resist i also have a few suggestions:

A-a timer for how long a match is going on! big want!
B- when you capture an attack with a goon squad i'd still like to see it's description now it is only a title wich can be hard for a new player

Find Cubits Guides. For the most part they should still be applicable and full of good tips.

Yes both of you answer alreadyy quite some answers thank you.

But the whole stock price thing is still confusing to me, i also tested it now by going express to huge amaunts of debt and indeed the ai was buying me out and i got bought out at once also.
However my stock price was only 1 lower then the others and also the suddenly bought out thing really surprised me!
I think you should alwasy have to see when people are recahing the 50% of cash to buy you out and preferable with a warning with it that it has started!
Perhaps it is also an idea for the dev's to make it even more visual that debt influences your stock prices with red/green /up/down arrows

to clearify myself with some repsonses:
A- i noticed the day timer but i mean a simple timer with how long we are playing real life. like is this game 20 minuts away or 30 or something like that. but maybe it's also there and i look wrongly.

B- whel when you have intercepted an attack then it comes into your black market as a use 1x
problem is that when you go with your cursor over it it shows the tilte but not what it does and it's kinda tricky to attack someone with it if you don't know what it does :D

I having just a bit to many moments of what? how? what the hell just happend :P?
and i also looked a bit to youtube gameplays but the problem is it takes so long so ik kepe scrolling and missing nearly all of the vital info haha.

ow and ultropope i'm not gonna add you just yet, first fgonna see if i keep playing. i play alot of games and many people add me or ask them to add and i end up far to fast with a friend list full of strangers haha

i think also more info after a match (and also when you have been bought out) would make many things clear on how's and why's

ow and ps blackmagic gonna look at your edit soon enough ;)

thx indczn1 also helps a lot, btw this Cubits Guides where can i find this is it on yourtube or steam or...?

A- That's the only timer that the game has. Keeping track of the game by how many days have elapsed on mars.

B- You'll quickly learn by playing the game over time what all the black market items do. You'll have them memorized quickly so I wouldn't worry about this one.

I posted the link up in my first post as to the cubit guide. Here it is again:

https://forums.offworldgame.com/462300/page/1/

Biggest thing to remember is that the game is still being tweaked and it's in beta so that immediately limits the pool of people playing. It'll get much better when it officially launches in 2016. In the meantime though I'd take ultrapope's recommendation and add some people on your friends list. I have a large friends list of OTC players (it's the only game I play on steam) and so I'm frequently able to organize 4 player matches if I see people are online and looking.

Also feel free to add me on steam and I'd be happy to walk you through some strategy and things like that. I've done some skype sessions with a couple of new (and experienced players) to talk strategy and do Q&A while playing practice games. Always happy to help.

Yeah i founded the guide lol i'm on page 9 and already learned so much more!
didn't even know that you got starter resources if u place your hq on resources well that explained how the enemy sometimes upgraded so damned fast haha :D.
Ps think i'm gonna add u guys later on.
ps2 i need an education with some of these guide lines haha

Ultrapope i added you on steam, blackmagic1 i think you better add me i can't find you between al the black magic potential being you ers;)

Im on steam as well: indczn. Can't miss me. Haven't been around as much lately, woo real life, but feel free to add me.

The problem the stock/debt is that its been tweaked so many times that I stopped caring what the formula really is. The important thing is Debt = lower stock price. Cash has a lower effect on stock price, but cash flow is king.

End of Stylistic_sagittarius's quote

I'll add you tonight. There's an offworld traders steam group that a bunch of us belong to. If you join that group it's the easiest way to find people that play OTC sometimes.
