Version 1.05 + Windows 10 version 1511 = taskbar icon issues?

Hello,

It appears as though Start10 version 1.05 intermittently obscures the first seven taskbar icons (at least on my configuration).  Clicking the "show hidden icons" pointer to the left of the system tray brings the missing taskbar icons back, so there is a quick workaround.  I haven't figured out a pattern of when the icons go missing in the first place.

This problem smells a lot like the issue when running Start8 on Windows 10 with the Cortana search bar at full width.

Has anyone else seen this / able to confirm?

Cheers,

Jim

Do you have your taskbar set to autohide?

No, no auto-hide for the taskbar (I hate that).

This is happening for me as well ever since updating to version 1511. One surefire way to replicate it is to open up the Cortana search box. This only appears to happen if Cortana is set to Show Search Box. If it's set to Hidden or Show Cortana Icon, everything is fine.

Confirmed, opening the Cortana search box does trigger it (although not every time, at least for me).

Additionally, clicking on the "show hidden icons" pointer does not always bring the icons back...sometimes several clicks are necessary.

And more additionally, enabling auto-hide on the taskbar doesn't work at all...the taskbar will hide for a moment, and then come back into view. The only time I use auto-hide is to temporarily resize windows that are larger than the desktop area (usually in an RDP session), and I noticed this yesterday.

I have been able to reproduce issues with clicking in the search field sometimes causing problems so will investigate and get a fix out ASAP.  It seems something changed in the very last build of Win10 to cause this (why they insist on making last minute changes I will never know!)

Autohide seems to work fine here and I doubt that is anything to do with us.  Windows 10 autohide is flaky at best from what I have heard.

Indeed, auto-hide is working this morning...weird. I'm glad that's a feature I don't use often. Thanks for the update, Neil!

I have been told the update should go out today
