Cannot uninstall Fences on Windows 10

Hello,

I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and after doing so I lost the ability to drag and drop any files on my desktop. I have tried to uninstall Fences (I have v1.1.0.419 installed) but whilst it disappears from the list in the uninstall programs screen it is still in the list on the start menu and is still working on my desktop. I am trying to uninstall it so I can see if it is this that is causing my inability to drag and drop onto and from my desktop. I have bought Fences 2 and want to install that after trying to see if that works ok.

Can you help.

To add to the above. I have tried with Revo uninstaller and it cannot find Fences to uninstall it but it is there and working.

Then try Advanced System Care by iobit. It comes with its own uninstaller. Some times if one doesn't do it another will.

You can try ODNT Zapper app. If that doesn't work then email support and start a trouble ticket.

Here is what I did today:

  1. Went to C:\Program Files(x86)\Stardock\Fences
  2. Remove everything I could. Some files could not be removed because they were still in use.
  3. Installed 2.13.

Apparently, step 2 removed whatever kept the installer from running. I had no problem installing 2.13 and the previous fences were still there. I was then able to drag and drop shortcuts to the proper fences.

Maybe I was just lucky, either in I got it working or have not yet received the Windows punishment for doing this. Good luck.
