Desktop Icons not appearing with Windows 10

When I install Windows 10 Home update I converted from Fences 1.1 to Fences 2.13.

Now after Boot-up, neither the Fences or Icons that weren't in fences appear, until I right click once anywhere on the desktop.

Then they all appear, but still have to do a refresh to have the Icons line-up correctly within the Fences.

When I right click on desktop and select view

"Show Desktop Icons"  is checked, "Lock Fences" is checked. "Align Icons to Grid" is also checked.

I tried different combinations but nothing changed.

I tried different Fences setting but the only one that worked was to un-check ENABLE FENCES.

Then all the Icons appeared.

Any suggestions?

Is this being worked on for a future update of FENCE?

This is happening to me too.  Fences 2.13 doesn't start up properly with Windows 10, until I right-click on the desktop.  After bootup, when I look at the event viewer, I see a couple of crashes, which tells me Fences is not starting properly.  At least the right click gets it to work ok.

This is the procedure I received that fixed my problem.

Basically Uninstall with the tool below and Install the latest version.

That's all it took for me.

I installed Windows 10 as new, and installed fences 2.13 and then after a few days the problem appeared again. I'm waiting for a new version to solve it

Just started to experience the same problem only a right click will show the fences and icons.

This happened after the latest update to windows 10 called threshold.

Is there a registry tweak or something to overcome the problem..

I submitted a ticket referencing this post and was sent a small .bat file that cures this issue. Anyone with this issue should fire a support ticket over to Stardock referencing this thread.

Stardock Staff: It might be worth adding the fix I was sent as some sort of advanced/troubleshooting option in the next release as Windows 10 does do some funky stuff on Shutdown which is likely the cause. Restarting the system seemed to bring the icons up straight away but not a Shutdown/Power On.

Looks like only Fences 2 and Fences 3 are compatible with Win10.

Sorry pal, you'll need to upgrade to Fences 2 to have a working Fences app on Win10.
