New items on desktop get stuck behind fences portal (SOLVED)

Hi, I've had this gltich for quite some time now and not quite sure what is causing it:

Whenever I create a new folder on my desktop, or drag and drop an item onto my desktop, it flys towards my 'downloads' fence and gets stuck there, remaining visisbles visible (but only partially if I have items in my downloads folder - see screenshot).

This is quite frustrating as it means in order to access items placed on my desktop I have to open up windows explorer. Please see the screenshot below (The folders 'WB Games,' Videos' and 'New folder' are all on my desktop. The other two files are in my downloads)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have auto-arrange set to on, on your desktop?

That is something I hadn't thought of! I don't currently have access to my device with fences on, but next time I do I will be sure to look, toggle off if it is indeed on, and see if that solves the problem.

Many thanks :).

It turns out I did not have auto-arrange on, and toggling this or any other setting within the view menu (e.g. align to grid, lock fences) does not alleviate the problem.

I have tried almost every setting within fences, as well as just deleting and recreating the fence linked to my downloads folder, but to no avail.

As far as I can tell it is very specific, occurring with a folder portal to my downloads folder only. Other fences do not cause the same issue.

Yes! I found what was causing it! Under the "Sorting/organizing" section in configure fences I have the 'Folders' box ticked under 'Type-based rules.' Un-ticking this has solved my problem :) (as it designated any new folders to go to my downloads fence, for some reason - not sure if a glitch or I accidentally toggled it on at some point).

Here is a screenshot to what I referred to in my previous post in the chance that anyone has this same problem in the future and happens across this thread :).
