Hyperion Logistics; The story so far....

Right-o folks, I have a question and an observation.

Question first.

Is the H.L. building meant to give all your ships a reduction of 1 Logistic point?

If so it's not doing this.

My observation is that its only on ships produced at the shipyard thats tied to the planet where the H.L. building is built.

Is this working as intended or not? Because the discription says planet on both the Hyperion Logistics building and the shrinker but the shrinker is empire-wide.

Edit: And does this apply to the range extending Hyperion Supply building as well?

This is intentional. Not all buildings, such as Hyperion Logistics, Hyperion Supply, and Hyperion Shipbuilding, are empire-wide. I've made mods that change the first two to be more like the Hyperion Shrinker however, for those who wish.

The Shrinker sort of has to be empire-wide, as ship designs are not shipyard-specific.

The description is somewhat confusing because it says ships built on the planet, but ships are built at shipyards, not on planets.  There are a lot of descriptions for things that are utterly useless or wrong, however, and in a couple cases are actually the reverse of the actual effects.

Wait what? How does it determine what ship is build at that planet? Is it any ship built at a shipyard that has the planet listed as a sponsor?

If so, you could change the planet's sponsored shipyard all over the map to make a ship that is built that turn have 1 fewer logistic point. (Put it on a research planet that donates its one manufacturing point to a shipyard across the galaxy to make that next ship easier to build.) Neat or exploit?

Right...?

Thats what I was considering because in my current game the powerhose shipbuilding planet is not the one being effected by the Logistics modifiyer.

I do wish those Stardocians would sort out the descriptions once and for all, I mean, there are loads of people here that can mod and sod about with the code in a pro manner, they could be recruted on a one time basis to sort all this admin out.

If one of the shipyards contributing has the Hyperion Logistics building, that ship built at that yard gets the reduction.  All fleets enjoy the added logistics given to the HL building's Adjaceny bonuses (where you see below the -1, you see +X logistics as well).

A cheesy way to get more out of it, is to put the HL building on a world with very low manufacturing points.  You can then Rotate it between shipyards.  The HL building only need be tied to the shipyard when it is completed, not during the entire multi-turn manufacturing process.  I'm sure they didnt intend people to do that, but its a way to game the system.

All the Hyperion improvements use to be empire wide (GC2) and I have been moaning about this c**k up since Beta 1 and here we are at post launch v1.03 and its still here.

I was aware they are NOT empire wide for a while. This is one reason why I dedicate the home world to production and Hyperion improvements all in one place. Its my one and only 'Bakuras High Speed Shipyard'  where I build only war based combat fleets. Its also a role play reason. It makes war tedious but allows me to trace the fleets I send out easier.

I'll have to try making a colony that sends it production across the galaxy to my production starbase, and on that colony I'll put the 3 hyperions on a +3 military tile plus an eletrium defense shield and see how that goes ;)
