Pics of self-designed ships

Sometimes the pictures of self-designed ships get really screwed up. The ship itself looks good in the designer and on the campaign map. But the pics are sometimes so zoomed out that I can`t even say what kind of ship it is. Once Í tried to make a starbase and the pic was so zoomed in that I could only see a grey, flat something.

As I only have this problem with big ships, my guess is this happens when a ship reaches a certain size. But I don`t know how to avoid this, as I don`t know what size this is.

Anyone else with this problem? Or even better any solution for this? I could create less big ships, of course but I do like them large.

What's happening is the ship designer thinks the ship is so big it needs more space - it's basically measuring the distance from your starting part to an edge (I dunno which edge). So, if you move your ship forward by grabbing the base part and moving it along the Z axis, the ship will change size in the screenshot.

Is the issue just screen shots?

End of Gauntlet03's quote

Not screen-shots, but the automatic picture that the Ship Designer makes showing your creations.

Here's my Sovereign before I figured that out:

And here it is after I moved its base part ~20 points along the Z-axis

Yeah I meant the in game-pictures. Moving along the z-axis did help. Thanks.
