Geronimo
Album: Bombs Away
Year: 2015
George Sheppard hopes his crush will be brave enough to love him again in the anticipating “Geronimo”
An anxious guitars opens the single, setting a trusting tone. It’s just like old times between them. They picked up right they left off. It’s their issues they need to sort through. However, he knows there’s more she wants to say. The last time they were together, he got scared He didn’t know what they had and he took off. Meanwhile, she was wondering what was wrong. (“Can you feel it?/Now it's coming back we can steal it/If we bridge this gap/I can see you/Through the curtains of the waterfall/When I lost it/Yeah you held my hand/But I tossed it/Didn't understand/You were waiting/As I dove into the waterfall.”)
In the chorus, he tells her she can tell him what she feels at anytime. (“So say Geronimo!/Say Geronimo!/Say Geronimo/Say Geronimo!/Say Geronimo/ Say Geronimo!/Say Geronimo/ )Can you feel my love?/Bombs away/Bombs away/Bombs away/)Can you feel my love?/Bombs away/Bombs away/Bombs away/Say Geronimo.”)
He says the first time he says, they were already planning to move in together after several months together. It ruined their relationship. Since then, they have had time to grow up. However, he thinks they can make it. (“ Well we rushed it/Moving way too fast/That we crushed it/But it's in the past/We can make this leap/Through the curtains of the waterfall.”)
The chorus is sung again.
In the bridge, he says he knows he hurt her. But she’s his best friend. Without her, he felt lost. It’s taken several years since they broke up for them to have contact. She actually contacted him and asked him how he was doing. He was relieved to see her name. Finally, they can be both happy. (“Well I'm just a boy/With a broken toy/All lost and coy/At the curtains of the waterfall/So it's here I stand/As a broken man/But I've found my friend/At the curtains of the waterfall/Now I'm falling down/Through the crashing sound/And you've come around/At the curtains of the waterfall/And you rushed to me/And it sets us free/So I fall to my knees/At the curtains of the waterfall.”)
A variation on the chorus ends the single. (“So say Geronimo/Say Geronimo/Say Geronimo/Say Geronimo/Say Geronimo/Say Geronimo/Say Geronimo/Can you feel (Say Geronimo! my love?/ Say Geronimo, my love?/ Say Geronimo! my love?/ Say Geronimo, my love?/Bombs away, bombs away, bombs away (say Geronimo, say Geronimo, say Geronimo, say Geronimo/Can you feel (make this leap, make this lea, make this leap my love/Make this leap/Can you feel my love.”)
George Sheppard is optimistic that it will work out. She seems different now. Past all the heartbreak and pain that lingered over them. It’s all he has. He will encourage her any way he can knows how.
The smart “Geronimo” shows a lot promise for the band.
