Game Score: It makes no sense!!

I just finished a game on a Insame Map size on Suicidal. It took over 30 hours of micromanagement. Even with maxed out credits and 344 planets my score was 23 points!!

I've been trying to figure out the logic behind scores for a few games now and they make no sense at all. It makes no sense at all.

I will say that I like the challenge of Insane maps on suicidal. I'm going to start another game with 3 opponents next.

Yes, I don't get the scoring at all either.  There are people in the top who haven't played anything except beginner games and have thousands of points per game.

I have always used the 'Power Score' instead of the 'official' final score.  It seems much more realistic, and much less confusing.  I also have a game-results score sheet that allows me to track game results against what I had done previously.

My score is 126 on an insane map. Thats 34th. I don`t now why or how I got this. So I don`t now how to do better next game either. Not that this is very important as long as the game is fun.

Population and money, as well as how significantly you are dominating the map at that point in time, seem to be significant factors in getting higher scores.

I'm certain the number of turns also comes into play.  I dominated the entire galaxy, but killed them slowly.  It would make sense that score would favor the aggressor, if your plan works.  My current game, first one on challenging/gifted, is taking FOREVER, because the Yor without resistance from me, became 4x anyone's power.  Solution, get everyone to declare war on the Yor, and when they surrender, they surrendered to ME because were were Cordial.  I was holding my own against the Yor when they were 4x, but now they are only 2x and momentum is on my side.  Its time to unplug the toasters :)  but I expect a low score because of how long it took.

i always found the score system a bit backwards. seems to emphasize stuff like influence, population and money way to much and turn time way too little.

maybe i'm missing something, but it seems you get more points for delaying a victory and pressing "end turn" for a few hundred turns while population, money and influence pile up. strange system. not that it matters much, but still...
