Have they mentioned anything about rotating ships in designer?

I've never had a middle mouse button on my laptop. So I've never been able to use the ship designer since there is no way to rotate anything. I find it odd and amusing that there is an input to rotate a gizmo (something there are buttons for), but not the ship itself which is vastly more important and no additional buttons to do.

Since it was beta though I knocked it off as an oversight and something that needs to be fixed. (Can't have people buying the game and realizing that due to a stupid lack of inputs an entire large part of the game is unplayable for them). I asked in a live stream about it, and the devs answered with a beat around the bush answer. "Oh yea, well I suppose we could do that".

Not very reassuring. Not a "oh of course" or "Yea that would be a problem" or anything "positive". This was way back when the beta first started being tested outside of Alpha. I of course waited multiple updates, and nothing towards it (despite them adding other input options for key binds).

Now, I am an Indie developer myself, so I fully understand needing to prioritize and what have you. However, now that things are being polished...

I asked in a Live Stream yet again a month ago about it, and once again I got an answer similar to before. I was told it "might" be in for the full release. "Might?" Really? This isn't a "maybe" issue. This is a big issue. Ship designing is a major part of this game, something I've yet not been able to test, or play around with myself and I'm not the only one with this problem.

Last 2 months I've not even been playing, and if the game is honestly released without that key input to be customized, I will be asking for a full refund as it has been brought forward to the devs  not just once but twice by me, and a third time before on the Forums + by many other people.

At this point in time I'm a bit upset. They've added yet MORE keybinds and still no proper ship rotate in the designer, and please don't tell me it's too difficult or blah blah blah. Seriously it's Elementary in coding, and could of easily been added the very first time I and others brought it forward with very little time spent away from other things that needed to be done. To add insult to injury they also started a "Create a ship" contest (something I'm rather proud of my designs in GalCiv II)  while there is still this problem completely removing me from being able to participate.

Again, wouldn't be nearly so upsetting if it wasn't such a simple fix for the devs that is consistently ignored.

Please understand as well my mass disappointment, frustration and being rather upset. I've been waiting for a Galciv III for well over 6 years. I went through the pain and sadness of hearing many times there would never be a Galciv III, and then the mass enjoyment when there was. =/

This does seem like a big deal but mice with middle buttons are not that expensive.  People with insufficent computers would spend more upgrading the memory.

I believe they mentioned that there would be more keybinding and rotating was mentioned. I think it was mentioned as part of the main map though. Hopefully they'll add it to the shipbuilder screen too. It would be nice if 'esc' would close the shipbuilder too.

That's not really the point. The point is some laptops have no ability, or other mouses depending on make or model. Like-wise if I'm traveling in a car (which I do alot), a mouse is not accessible to me very easily (no place to really put it). This and many other problems for other people.

I still don't get why to this day dev's always force lock important keybinds to the MMB when the MMB isn't always functional or available for everyone, when there are so many other buttons that are.

This should probably be on the support forum since they really should fix this and they notice things there more than elsewhere.

I totally agree with the OP that this is a simple fix that has been seemingly ignored. I had the problem with a mouse that had a middle wheel button, but I had programmed the button to refresh and after I found out how to rotate, I had a problem reprogramming and wound up just changing my mouse since I have about a half dozen mice laying around.
