Welcome Founders - Where to Begin

The Founders Alpha for Servo starts today and we are all excited to see what everyone thinks. The game is still rough, it is only an alpha after all. This is the first time we've ever released something this soon.

NDA Reminder - Please do not post screenshots or video from the Founders Alpha.

Why do it? We want feedback.

Servo is an interesting beast. One foot is squarely in RTS-land while the other lives in RPG-town. Our opinion is evolving on a daily basis. We'd love to have you all along for the ride and help us figure out where to take the game.

Plus, we could use some new blood in matchmaking;)

How do I get the game?

Steam keys are going out to Founders today, keep an eye on your e-mail.  More information is available on this here in the forum.

How do I submit feedback?

Hit the bug button in-game, the button looks like a small insect, you can see it on the bottom of the main menu or when you hit pause in-game.  That sends us a screenshot of what's going on in the game, some logs, and whatever comments you wish to enter.  We do read those comments so please tell us about the bug or feedback that you have.

Also feel free to post comments and feedback in our forums.

You can also send e-mail to support@stardock.com.

Where should I begin in the game?

Click on Solo Play and run through the missions there to unlock access to more Servos and Pilots.  Once you've finished those missions maybe you'll want to practice a bit against the very rough AI in a Skirmish game or you can try some multiplayer games.

If you do try multiplayer, you might want to post in the forums to let people know what time you're going to be playing or to add other Founders to your Steam Friends list so you can more easily find a game since there aren't thousands of people playing the game right now.

You can find an early draft of Servo's manual in the Founder's Vault to help you find your feet.

Good luck and we hope you have fun!

Well that's too bad. There doesn't seem to be graphics options in this first version of Servo. I thought my computer was half-way decent, but obviously not enough to run it at this point. :/

@raptor980 What are the specs of your computer? I am thinking of becoming a founder but my late-2009 iMac has only 256MB of VRAM

I've only done the first tutorial, but I just wanna say this looks awesome! I hope to get to explore it a bunch tomorrow!

@raptor980 What problems are you having? We should be getting some options in the next update (couple of weeks). Please send any bugs into the Stardock support/bug channels so we can fix them.

@TokyoDan As much as we'd love your feedback, it might be best to hold a bit. We have not done a ton of optimization and perf work at this point.

heh, I have low VRAM. Only 128mb. Been looking into getting a new graphics card. Maybe now's the time. :)

Edit: Not sure how it will perform with 256mb. It'll most likely run ok.

@raptor980 I've got 512 on my laptop, and it runs just fine. I've got just some built in AMD card with a quad core, and the game isn't laggy. That being said, I've only done tutorials, so I may want more on any kind of giant map :P Just to let you know that crappier cards can probably handle the game's graphics at this stage.

@steveonce I'm also running this off of a laptop and the only time I have any real issue is when there are lots of simultaneous explosions or sparks from the drills on screen. I  haven't seen any massive map so far, so I think if you can do the tutorial you should be fine.

That's what I was saying. I've tried playing it and it's more like a slide show than a game. I will hopefully be getting a new video card very soon though. :)

Hey raptor980 - BXP_Skittlebrau just posted over here mentioning that if you hold down the shift key when you launch the game, it'll bring up Unity's default pre-game resolution picker and you can also choose to run full screen or in a window.  Maybe you can tinker with those options to help improve your perf a bit.
