Update Bugs

After updating Windowblinds recently I've noticed than when I save something to my computer (mp3, jpg, any kind of file) it takes several seconds for it to even render and when it does and I click "Save", it takes a ridiculously long time to do so.

Is there a way to revert back to Windowblinds prior to the latest update?  It's annoying as hell.

As far as I know only if you downloaded it from the store, your account and saved it. Then you could delete the version you are now using and install the older version.

I Don't have your problem and it's the first time I heard of it no here. If you don't get an answer in a bit you may want to send a ticket to support. Only send one as if you send another you will be placed at the bottom again.

I have been experiencing something similar to this in Chrome and Firefox over the past few builds of Windowblinds.  This happens in the save and open dialog windows.  It takes forever (1 to 5 seconds) for those windows to render, then when you choose the object to save or open, it takes another 1 to 3 seconds for the window to process.  I have reported the issue but have never received a response back.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and tried various builds but have not found any that have totally solved the problem.  And, it doesn't appear to be an issue with the skin since I have tried at least 20 different ones and get the same results.

Thar's EXACTLY what I am experiencing.  I am using Chrome, as well.  I didn't notice it until a couple of weeks ago when there was some small update.  Unfortunately I have no restore points from before I installed the update.  I'm going to put in a support ticket and see if I have any luck.  It is SO annoying!

I see the same thing with Chrome.  Thank you.  I thought it was a due to the latest Chrome update and didn't connect it to WB at all.   If Support says anything that helps or indicates a solution is being worked on, it would be great if folks who learn anything post updates here.

I submitted another ticket this morning on the issue.  Hopefully this can get resolved.  I find that this bug makes Windowblinds to the point of being unusable on my machine when I open/save things so much.  Since I do not have a lot of other software installed on my system, I do not know if this bug is present in the open/save dialog windows of other software or not.  So, I'm not sure if this is isolated to Firefox/Chrome only.

I just saved a couple of files in the Safari browser and everything worked just fine.  I don't know about Firefox, since I don't have it on my computer.

I'm with you, this is a MAJOR bug to me.  I am on the computer all day long for work and pleasure and this is really slowing me down, big time.

I found a solution that worked for me.  I did a system restore to April 4 (before the update that screwed everything up) and now everything works as it should. Obviously you don't want to install the update once you get back.

I filed a support ticket this morning and NOBODY has gotten back to me.  They're about as slow as their website.  Anyway, I hope it works for you, too!

Rather than a restore any reason installing WB 8.06 over 8.10 wouldn't work?   It requires older files to overwrite newer files, which I assume will occur, but I could be wrong.  I still have WB 8.06.  I had no issues with it.  Other than this, I have no issues with WB 8.10 either, but admittedly this one is annoying.

P.S.  I know I can uninstall and re-install but that burns up activations and I don't want to be stuck waiting for someone to adjust my activation count should I be over my limit.

The issue with Chrome and the slow save dialog is addressed in the release version of 8.11 (8.11a).  This is awaiting QA time and I cannot say when it is going to be released, but once I find out I will let you know.

I actually tried to uninstall the version that is causing all the trouble and then reinstalling an older version, but once I did, it somehow reverted itself to the newest version.  Perhaps I didn't uninstall the the most recent version thoroughly enough?

In any case, I'm happy to be rid of the save/open dialogue problem.  I can live with an older build, but if they push out an update to WB that does fix the issue, I might update it then, but I'd resident to do so until I know for certain that this is the case.  Please do let us know, Neil Banfield.  I appreciate it!

I must say, I'm not too impressed with WB's support system, as they never did get back to me.  It's kind of ridiculous, since this isn't freeware and we spent good money for it.

Neil - are you saying that the beta 8.11 version addresses this issue too or just the final 8.11 or 8.11a release?  If the beta version is stable and addesses this issue now, I might update to it an as interim solution   On the otherhand, if the final release is not too far off I can patiently wait.

Thanks for all your support.

No only the release version as it was not reported before we had put out the beta update.

Glad to hear that an update will be coming.  Just hope it won't take too long for it to be released! I could have made my breakfast while waiting for the save dialog window to render when trying to save a tax form.  Goodness... what a pain!

I installed WB 8.06 over 8.10 last night and everything seems to working fine again.  I didn't have any of the title bar issues others had with 8.06 so the need for me to upgrade was questionable from the get go. I had trouble with 8.09 and now this issue with 8.10.  Unless there is a compelling reason to upgrade I think I will wait for version 9 before I do any more "updates."

Just passing that on for anyone who didn't have problems with 8.06 and doesn't want to wait for a fix.  Reverting back to 8.10 (as mentioned above) doesn't happen for me.  I turn off auto updates for virtually everything, WB is no exception.  Much less troublesome to update everything on  my terms.
