8.1 Skins won't change

I downloaded 8.1, rebooted and changed the skin, and everything worked fine. Then I tried to change it again. I was able to select a new skin, but when I clicked "apply" nothing happened. I tried with a few more skins, nothing happened. Finally I tried Windows Aero. The process took a very long time, with that blue circle spinning and spinning and spinning, and after it was done, the skin didn't change.

I haven't had this issue with prior versions.

How did you download? Through ODM or from the store? Don't waste your time with ODM.  If you used it, uninstall what you have, run CCleaner, reboot for good measure and grab 8.1 from https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products and reinstall.

Thanks! unfortunately, I followed the steps in the ticket, and I'm still experiencing the same issues with the clean install. This time the only difference is that when I tried to load a skin, a message popped up saying that "a bad installation was detected, and do I want it fixed". I selected "yes" and everything seemed to go fine for the first few skins I loaded, and then it went back to the original issue.

I appreciate your help, but at this point, I don't have time to troubleshoot, so I'm going to uninstall and wait for 8.11.

I'm getting the same dialog box error as Borg999, but after I click yes, I still can't change the skin.  I've disable my firewall, and installed WB 8.1 as an admin.  Disappointing.

Make the changes you want / Apply / close WB / do a Restart / when back to Desktop, changes are in effect

Why doesn't it tell you to do Restart?

hallnhbk - Please see the knowledgebase article at: https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/424/124/windowblinds-states-that-windowblinds-is-not-installed-correctly-on-this-pc - If that is not the issue can you please list the full error message/screenshot it?

Are any of you using ESET anti virus or something similar?

A restart should never be required after applying a WindowBlinds skin.

Mine says 8.9, and takes awhile to change skins.

I use Norton Internet Security.
