Considering picking SK up, few questions

Howdy, just wanted to ask a few questions to see if SK would be something I would enjoy.  Just some background info, I did have Elemental which I thought was good, but never ran well on my machine (crashes, low FPS later in game, etc) and hoenstly I am not a huge fan of 4X anyways.  FE was a better experience but I enjoyed the RPG aspect of it over the 4X gameplay.

Anyways, some questions:

1. Has the performance been improved since the Elemental/FE days even while it's in beta?  Or should I expect similar stuff as the Elemental beta?

2. If I don't mind the 4X gameplay but enjoy RPG aspects more (questing, looting, leveling) how does SK stack up against FE?  Basically same thing, or is more in one of those directions than the previous games?

3. Which bear is best?

Basically I am *hoping* I can play this more like a RPG rather than a 4X game  B)

1. Performance is *much* improved in SK even as compared to the most recent FE:LH

2. It is skewed way closer to the RPG aspects. Don't get me wrong, it's still not a RPG game, but it is certainly closer at this point than either FE or FE:LH

3. I'm thinking that one is a joke and it's going over my head. Whoosh! So, I'll just say Yogi Bear is the best!

I'd certainly recommend you check out the Let's Plays on youtube. You can also check out the replays of the dev streams on youtube as well: https://www.youtube.com/user/stardockgames

1 - I really wouldn't know, being fortunate enough to have a pretty powerful computer, I haven't noticed one way or the other.  Saying that it is a 64 bit game so that has to be good, yes?

2 - I'm more into rpg than 4x myself.  SK is closer to a rpg than any of the elemental series, and for the first time you can imagine yourself as your channeler.  The quest are more human and varied, and in general, the game has a much nicer feel to it than it's predecessors.

3 - Mr Necessity.

Watching the first couple seconds of your LP (the main SK title screen) made me think it would be awesome to have a way to have vanquished foes in FE:LH turn to stone. Rather than recruiting them to your services, part of their "quitting" could be them imbibing a turn to stone potion.

Setting up the stage for finding the statues as we do in SK.
