Fences do not work

Fences is activated, v 2.13, but it seems very strange recently, the situation is that fences seems frozen on desktop, I can not create or move fences on desktop, but view->'Lock Fences' is not selected.

Configue Fences poped up, but even I change some options, it does not work.

I try to install / uninstall fences several times, but it still does not work.

My OS is window 8.1, 64. It seems that Operating-system updates and patches were installed recently.

May be the problem that Fences can not work very well is caused by those patches.

And I find that my friendes who has installed fences on their OS have the same problem as me as well, theire OS are win7 64,or 32.

This is a common proble, may be.

Please fix the bug ASAP.

hi guys I have windows 8.1 update 3 x64 and fences works fine here.however I notice that if tiles and fences and modern mix are all running together the problems occur.i switched off modernmix and windowsfx now everything is ok again.maybe that helps.i spent nearly 15 hours diagnosing the issue, installing and running 1 app at a time until the problem occurred.i found modernmix +tile+fences=problems.hope this helps.also don't try to have objectdock, tiles, fences, shadowfx, modernmix all running together on windows 8.1 x64 with windowblinds you will run into many problems.what I found works for me is,windowblinds,fences,tiles,curosfx,start8.if I try to run anything else on top of this it starts bogging down the system badly.and I have an 8core processor @4.2 gig and radeon r9280x. and 16gig ram.removing modern mix for me seemed to eradicate my issues.

For those other than the OP:  Right click the desktop, choose view and make sure you don't have Lock fences checked.

The_Gear, I have received your E-mail, and  tried your batch file, I think that batch file can only unistall Fences completely. After Fences uninstalled by that batch file, I tried to install Fences v.2.12/2.13 several times, but it is also the same problem as before. I can not move or create fences on desktop, it seems that I can not even touch those fences ondesktop.

Then my friends tried your batch file too, but the problem is not solved too.

I think the Fences problem on your PC is the same as our's.

This is a common problem , pls try to find the solution.

Thanks.

Exactly the same symptoms here.  Took place after a most recent windows upgrade patch was applied.

The_Gear, please let me know if the solution is available.

Thanks.

That's the thing, we are not seeing it (and outside of this post, no one else is it would seem).

Few things you need to be sure of:

-Fences is not locked: http://sd.stardock.com/sean/JingImages/2015-02-04_0940.png

-That you are running the current version, 2.13.  You do not need to install prior versions, just that one.

-And if the issue persists, that you are running the batch file as admin (not just under an account with admin privileges):

http://sd.stardock.com/zubaz/apps/Purge_Fences.bat

Then reboot.

When reinstalling, make sure you get the version from your account page (important):

https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

If that fails, it would be helpful if you could find what update caused your issue.

Anyone who have experienced the same problem, try deleting any 360 software. It might be another example of the company's malicious competition.

I think the problem may be caused by 360 Safeguard. I recently updated it. I don't think it is the windows update's problem. Could you please look into this?

'360 Safeguard' seems to be (primarily) a localized Chinese security application (and likely the reason we are not seeing wide spread issues).  If you shut it down, as a test, are your Fences issues resolved?

Shutting it down does not help. I uninstalled it and the issue resolved.

I had the exact same problem since a few days ago and after I just uninstalled 360 Safeguard, Fences is working correctly again.

And if you have 360 Safeguard, and disable it, does it then work?
