Doctor Who Mod

Are you in?

With the best game coming around the corner I have to ask. Are you modders getting ready? Who wants to turn the best damn game into the craziest scifi universe known to all, including time lords.  I guess this is my inquiry into who out there isnt scared that the code is bigger on the inside?

I love Doctor Who, but I'm not sure I would want a Whovian mod to GCIII unless it was a major overhaul of the game. It just doesn't seem like like the objectives of the game match the dynamics of the show very well. Galactic Conquest just has almost nothing to do with why I enjoy that show. That said, I hope someone proves me wrong.

i dont know i mean you wouldent be out in TARDIS's (TARDII?) the U.N. could be replaced by the shadow proclamation the doctor could pop up in galactic events and then replace many of the races with dr who races

A mod is a mod I'm game. You can have 130 major races that would probably fit most if not all the who races. Remember the new Dr. Who wasn't a reboot, but a continuation of the old Dr. Who. Meaning you can combine both into one for the races of the game.

Bump. So who's gonna do it? ;)

I'd give such a mod a go if someone made it, but there would be intellectual  property issues.

I'm  actually planning an original races mod.

Sadly I possess the artistic talent of a newt. Maybe if someone handled that part then I could. As long as it doesnt cut into magical princess and pony fairly tale time. I do not want the little one rioting

Had a go, and came up with this...

Not quite Dr Who, but the next best thing, a Dalek race mod :)

As long as the modders aren't making a profit it should be fine. There's plenty of other space games on Steam that have Star Wars and Star Trek mods and there's no issues with copyright. It's a modder making money on copyrighted material without permission that's a problem. Fan mods fan works can always be free with a disclaimer acknowledging the proper owner/company.

If someone make's a Who mod and then charges per download, that's when a big issue and IP lawsuits would start flying.

It all really depends on the rights holder and if they have any objections, your right though most of them won't complain about a free mod violating their IP. I doubt the BBC will mind this Mod kind of free advertising for their show.

Frustrating though to put a lot of work into a mod knowing the rights holder could ask for you to stop at any time if they wanted to.

Well I am in favour of a Dr Who mod.  Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Time Lords etc...whats not to love?

I was a big fan and enjoyed the Star Trek and Babylon 5 mods for GC2.
