Icons disappearing bug still seems to be present

I just did a clean resintall of Win 8.1 and Fences 2.13.  I recall that somewhere between 2.11 and 2.13, probably 2.11 in Oct 2013, I reported here an odd behavior, seemingly a bug, that caused all the icons on the desktop to disappear.  I just ran into it again setting up the new install.  It occurs when there is a horizontally displayed fence that abuts the (left) edge of the screen.  If I try to insert an icon in that fence to its left along the edge of the screen, that is, to the left of the left-most icon showing, all the icons on the desktop disappear.  I saw it twice this morning.  The first time all but one or two icons disappeared, which I was able to reverse by clicking on the desktop (Hide/Unhide).  But a second try wiped out everything.  I had to reboot to get the desktop back.  Sure wish someone would look into it.

It sounds like you might have invoked the new pages feature. See the article at https://forums.stardock.com/431606  for more information

Thanks.  That does look like it.  Given the apparent havoc it can cause to the unsuspecting, why is it enabled by default?

It is a prominent feature of the application and is on by default.

So may I assume the correction for that feature inadvertently occurring for those who didn't know or intend to empty their desktop of icons is prominently displayed as well?

You can disable Pages or adjust its settings in the Fences configuration.

Right-click a Fences, select Configure Fences, then go to Desktop Pages.
