Unable to Create or Restore a Snapshot
Problem with Registry Permissions
I know this is my own fault as I was recently a bit over zealous when running a registry cleaner (jv16 PowerTools). After cleaning the registry and rebooting the fences appeared on my desktop but none of the icons were within any of the fences, they were instead were scattered all around them. I immediately restored the backup of the registry clean efforts and rebooted but the same issue manifested. I uninstalled fences, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted and have the same issue. I don't think the uninstall process completely cleared everything because after reinstalling I still saw my old snapshot in the snapshot viewer.
The messages I encounter differ a bit but both are related to registry permissions.
If I try to restore a snapshot the error is... "Problem restoring snapshot. Access to the registry key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\Fences\Icons' is denied."
If I try to create a new snapshot the message is much more verbose but contains... "...System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed. at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.InternalOpenSubKey..."
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.
Any help to resolve this issue is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
