Max number of activations reached

help

Greetings - I purchased Cursor FX awhile back as well as Windows Blinds 8 and StartX to dress up my Windows 8 setup on my laptop. I have since been having a lot of trouble with the damn machine and have had to reformat it a few times, then the dang hard drive failed and I installed an old one I had laying around on my desk.  Each time I reformated it, I installed Cursor FX because I sort of like it despite the fact it does mess with some of my games and has to be disabled from time to time.  So now, after paying for the program, after being forced to uplaod some damn file each time I activate it, it will no longer allow me to regiater or USE the software I PAID FOR!!!

Damn that pisses me off!

I am about ready to go find a cracked version and install that and just say screw Stardock, I have sent a few emails to them requesting help but no response has come, really come on now!  There are tons of versions of this softeware floating around that have been cracked, I don't use them but know people who do, I try to be legal and get the shaft in the end anyhow, and they wonder why people steal their software!!

I suggest you contact Support at https://esupport.stardock.com/

While your frustration is understandable, your computer problems are not attributable to Stardock software.

I'd also strongly suggest you desist from making comments about 'cracked software'.

I've gone ahead and reset your activations jerrag1. Please note that in the future, contacting support is the best way to go about this issue. Please then wait for a response from one of our support staff. If you're emailing multiple times, you could be resetting your place in line which would delay us in assisting you. If we have responded and you haven't received it, be sure to check your spam folder.

Dude, make a full image back-up. If you know about cracks, you should be able to figger out what those are too. No matter what fails you, you can restore from it and go about your business. Nothing will need to be reinstalled or re-registered. Blaming Stardock for your lack of knowledge and/or bad equipment isn't the way to get things done.

Asking for help and threatening to steal from the same people, in the same post is just plain DUMB...... :-"

I was just going to quote  this ". If you're emailing multiple times, you could be resetting your place in line which would delay us in assisting you." but that option is broken at this time.

jerrag1 hi.

Support has reset your activations for you so you should be good to go. [Reply #2].

When a user has frequent/multiple installs of a software it can often be an issue of EULA violation....there's no real way to indicate whether it is 'only' failed hardware/OS on your part.

Yes, it can get annoying/frustrating to subsequently need assistance for software activations whilst putting up with HW/OS dramas as well but the latter is not the fault of Stardock so they shouldn't be the target of your wrath....;)

Yeah, I just installed Windows 8.1 on a machine that was Windows 7. Oops, I forgot to deregister my software. So I have sent an email to support for a reset.

Best way to handle it, as Doc pointed out.

you can "deregister" the software? where?

I have this problem as well, but I didnt change any hardware on my Laptop nor my Main PC (you may use it on up to 5 PCs, I already asked) and as I reinstalled it on my Laptop I reached the max number.

would be nice if the Hardware is checked before raising any numbers and if it's known not to raise it.

btw I contacted the support.

Uninstalling the software will deactivate it.

oh. that is nice to know, it should be written somewhere where it's easily seen, since it's really important...

as I said the activation should check the hardware first in my oppinion and then consider whether or not to raise the number. also a remote kill of old ones would be nice (maybe with a re-activation each year or whatever and the activations vanish automatically).

uninstalling cursorfx icon developer and icon packager doesn, release the activation I know I tried and spoke with customer service.they explained that the older software mentioned above doesn,t release the activation however the newer products do.i received an email from barry saying my activations was reset, however they are still not reset so I am having to fill in another support ticket and waiting another 2 days.frankly this is more agro than its worth,i understand the logic of acvtivations to protect there software from pirates, but the legit end user is always the ones who suffer.there are better ways to do this,i have object desktop infinite paid monthly yet still having had to uninstall the suite a few times myself, everything is ok for reactivation except icon packager and icon developer, because they are older software so it kinda is catch 22.

End of shaunvickers's quote

I've taken care of your activation's. Thing is, if you're installing, activating, uninstalling, installing, activating, etc. you're going to run into this. From what I can see just this month, you've been busy doing this. It's not a problem for us to reset your activation's, just contact us about them. Just know this isn't a typical case and if you may be repeating those steps again soon, maybe only activate a trial for now so you don't run into the activation limit so quickly.

Can you take care of me as well while you're at it? My ticket seems to have been more or less ignored....

You sent your ticket in yesterday, it wasn't ignored, we just haven't gotten to it.
