I would question this question.

It is questionable that it even really is a question.

Um, er.... what was the question?

Well, if it were me, I would back up everything you have first...before you overwrite the old with the new.  Just a suggestion.

There are two maybe more Masters that have been doing that for some time now. Starone (Christine) and Lightstar (Tom). I know for sure what Starone is doing and think it's the only way to do it. She is taking Windowblinds she made 10 years ago or longer that were made for xp and Vista. They are opened in SKS. New graphics are made that are required for win 7 and 8. Sometimes even modifications to the startmenu or whatever else. Than they are just uploaded as usual using the same name. In the description they are just noted saying updated for win 7 and 8 or should i say 8.1. Wouldn't hurt to contact one or both of them and ask.

In general, it's better to delete old skins before installing updates.  Occasionally just stomping on the old one causes a problem, it's been noted in the comments of skin updates from time to time.  Doesn't mean you won't get away with it, up to you.

Actually there are 3 Masters updating older skins Dave, Starone, myself and vStyler. You can backup your skins prior to installing Jaroepz, it's not a bad idea. But I would also after doing the backup completely delete the old skin you are replacing from inside Windowblinds (right click on it and delete the skin), then install the new one. The reason for this is that in a lot of cases there may be extra files that would be leftover in the old skin after the new skin is installed, so doing a clean skin install is much better. Of course make sure you are not deleting a skin that is currently applied when you do the delete.  :)

Yeap, I'd do what LightStar said, as you will have leftover files that may corrupt the skin.

So, are the masters giving the updates to those that purchased them before or are they being charged for them again? just curious.

Ya, you just download it from your "My Products" page.  Very nice of them btw, thanks.

I knew if I posted something at least one or more of the people doing it would clear things up. It also gave me a few pointers. Thanks.

That is why I suggested to contact one or more of the people doing it. But you did it right here for all of us to learn from. Appreciate it.

Just random timing on my part, Dave.  :)   I did want to get the overwriting issue out there before he got everything tangled up.  My post would have looked even sillier if I'd spent 6 more seconds poking around on the keyboard and ended up right after LightStar's.  ;)

We got there though.  :)

Ed....get another hard drive and archive what you get. You never know if you might have to use an older machine...and then you have skins to use. I save everything. I still have skins made for WB4...lol ;)

Initially....the entire Window [hence the name]... and the taskbar/start button....don't recall it also doing the start menu [but back then I was almost never using Explorer.exe....but alternate shells instead] ...;)
