ShadowFX Does Nothing

Purchased, installed and registered ShadowFX. It does nothing. The shadow effect never appears. There are no error messages or program errors, no crashes. The UI opens but it makes no difference which color scheme I select, there are no shadows. I do not see an "Apply" button, so I do not know if the changes are supposed to take effect instantly or what. Seems like I may have wasted my money on this product.

I am using Aero Glass for Windows 8.1 on all of my Windows 8 systems. Could that be the problem? If so, I need to ask for a refund because I value Aero Glass too much to give it up as a trade-off to make ShadowFX work.

It is possible that is the problem.  ShadowFX is designed to work with a stock Windows install and Aero Glass may be interfering with it.  Could you disable it briefly to see if that's the issue or not?

If you wish for a refund you would need to contact sales.

Thank for the quick reply. I will have to test it this weekend when I return home from a business trip. I do not have access to the system that I am testing it on.

I hope that's not the problem. The default Windows 8 theme and the lack of Aero Glass effects makes Windows 8 an utterly worthless, extremely ugly and unusable OS for me.

Sorry... should have looked closer for another thread. Same problem here: https://forums.stardock.com/457636

Same Problem here, ShadowFX never did anything after purchase and installation. I am not using Aero Glass.

Would be nice if an update is coming soon.

hey Guys, did you try using it with ONLY the default windows 8 theme?  I just bought this product and it ONLY seems to work with the default windows 8.1 theme which is total BS as that was never stipulated anywhere!   Please tell me they are going to fix this!

If you are using WindowBlinds then it is not designed to work with that as WindowBlinds skins have their own shadows.  This is not a bug.

Likewise if you have hacked your OS to alter your theme I am afraid we cannot offer any technical support with that and ShadowFX.  It is designed to work with the stock OS theme.

1.  Using uxstyle is NOT a hack as it does nothing to alter the OS's files.

2.  If that's a condition for using your application then you should put it under "requirements" so that people know before purchasing it.
